Wood Lane Countryside Centre is a Grade ll listed former farm set on the edge of countryside in north-west Sheffield.The farm was built in 1802 and the stone farmhouse, barns, outbuildings and gardens have been fully restored to provide beautiful accommodation for community use.The centre is licensed for wedding ceremonies and receptions.
The venue is owned by Sheffield City Council and managed in partnership with the voluntary sector. The Centre is a base for nature conservation and community activities such woodturning, yoga and art.
The Venue is managed on a daily basis by Wood Lane Conservation Trust and all money raised from lettings and wedding bookings goes towards conservation work throughout Sheffield, practical training for volunteers, environmental education for schools and community events such as summer and Christmas fayres.
Hire of the venue for a wedding includes Grain Loft 12m x 7.5m (90 sq m2) The Grain loft can hold 80 guests seated comfortably for a wedding breakfast and a maximum of 100 guests for an evening reception party. Accessible via stairs or lift plus external steps into garden Small kitchen with sink, fridges and freezer
Within the price you have use of the venue from 1pm on the Friday to allow you time to decorate and set up for your wedding day. You also have use of the venue, grounds and gardens on the Saturday for your wedding ceremony and / or reception and photographs. On the Sunday following the event you have access until 11am to remove decorations and clear away, but other people may be using the grounds and catering kitchen. Please note that the total maximum capacity at Wood Lane Countryside Centre is 100.

Top Wedding Tips
Have a “our day must include list” and work this into a timeline. Check that everything fits into your day. All brides say “my day went so fast” so make time to enjoy the things you have planned
When using a DIY venue if you able meet your photographer or caterer at the venue so you can discuss the logistics particularly if they are unfamiliar with the venue.
Delegate – when using a DiY venue there can be a lot to set up and it can be overwhelming. Ask friends and family to help – more often they will want to play a role in making your day perfect.

We decided to hold our wedding in the grain loft, then spent the reception outside playing fete games, we hired Mexican street food and everything ran so smoothly- whilst we were outside Laura and her team transformed the grain loft into our vision, there was one thing she was unsure of and just asked us to take a look so we were happy with the loft before all our guests saw it transformed for the evening sit down meal.
If you want to make your wedding your own and like all the little details then this is the venue for you!
