Today The Whitworth operates as a venue for a wide variety of events, all of which help to support the upkeep of the building and extensive park land.
Here at The Whitworth we have a variety of rooms available to hire for all occasions from corporate conferences, community events to private parties. Take a walk around our four ornamental ponds. Once a Victorian boating lake these ponds are now home to an abundance of wildlife all year round. Our library is perfect for an intimate ceremony, wedding breakfast or evening celebration. Ideal for smaller wedding parties you have the choice of either using the room as a scenic
backdrop for your ceremony or as a handsome
space to host your guests for an evening
reception. The Gallery is a modern addition to the building is an elegantly clean space for couples to use as a blank canvas to decorate as they please.
Complete with skylights and floor to ceiling
windows on the outer wall the natural light really
helps to bring the beautiful parkland inside. Built over the former Victorian swimming pool is our Brunel room. This space is elegant and light with central skylights running the length of the room and
intricate metalwork arching across the ceiling.
The perfect space for family centered weddings with fantastic flexibility for a wide range of celebrations. The Brunel really is something special.
The grandest room in The Whitworth would have to be the Ballroom, a truly impressive space, for hosting your wedding party.
With an elevated balcony overlooking the lower floor and a double door entrance via the grand staircase this
room really is a stunning space to celebrate in.
Complete with vaulted ceilings with eye catching chandeliers this room does not require much else in terms of decor. The recently refurbished floors are also
an exquisite detail as well as a beautiful original fireplace adjacent to the oak bar. An outdoor celebration in our beautiful grounds could be the perfect way to welcome all your guests. Whether you're looking to host an outdoor wedding or a garden party we have ample space to suit your needs.
We have plenty of space to erect a marquee and with the ornamental ponds and beautiful tree-lined paths

Visit at least three venues and spend some time on your own in the rooms to get a feel for how it would look on your big day. Take videos and photos so that you can refer back to them.
Have a savoury cheese cake as a wedding cake and use this as part of your evening buffet! Decorated with fruits and fauna this will be a beautiful addition to your wedding decorations.
Have flip flops for your guests, you do not want anything to get in the way of dancing!
