Hi there! Congratulations on your engagement!! Really looking forward to meeting you and helping to plan your perfect day. I've not been working at the Dower House Hotel very long so it's a great time to come and have a tour and learn about the new wedding packages we have just created and together we can make this absolutely beautiful hotel the perfect venue for your wedding. I have nearly 6 years experience planning weddings and events, some of that in the UK and some in Nova Scotia, Canada! Thankfully snow is not such a problem here as it is over there, although it does create the perfect backdrop for a winter wedding! That's one of the only things I can't promise to control - the British weather! My advice for the newly engaged: 1. book the venue that gives you goosebumps and then trust their wedding planner/coordinator - they know what works at that venue, and have lots of experience, but also we all LOVE weddings we only want it to be perfect for you; we're all romantics at heart so use their experience to help realise your plans! 2. Don't feel you have to stick with the traditions; it's your day - keep the traditions you like and work for you, but if your top table plans are causing you stress - just have the two of your and your best man and maid of honour and put everyone else on family tables. If the thought of having to make a speech will wreck your day, plan another way to say what you want - thank you gifts and cards, a home-made video projected on a screen, book fireworks and have 'thank you' light up the sky! My favourite phrase "it's your day - what do you want?"!
