Information For The Comb
Reivers has operated The Comb since 1974. We lovingly restored the farm buildings and wedding barn to offer a finite number of weddings on a exclusive 2 day hire basis.
Reivers is not a wedding factory. We seek to provide a finite number of wedding couples per year with a unique occasion they can tailor to create their own lifelong memories.
In addition to weddings the business has provided specialist training or events to corporate clients for over 45 years. It also stages parties and banquets when required and at certain times of year we let out the main building on a self-catering basis to groups of families or friends.
The diversity of our business allows us to keep our wedding offering fresh by only hosting a certain number of wedding each year.
The main building a traditional stone farm dating from the late 1700's and the site dates back to the time of the fierce Border Reivers who frequented to Tarset Valley. It was recently full refurbished in keeping with the rustic style of the building and the wedding barn was also renovated.
The dark skies barn is fully equipped and The Comb is provide for 2 nights for a wedding (further nights can be booked subject to availability) allowing the wedding party to relax and create a unique event.
The Comb estate has the facilities, ambience and sheer beauty to make your wedding relaxed, comfortable and unique. We only offer weddings over a weekend or 2 days midweek as this attracts couples seeking to avoid time constraints, other brides and pressures on numbers but rather just want to share their joy with family and friends.
Typically this involves an icebreaking BBQ or dinner under the stars or in the dining room for family and friends the night before. The grounds, sunsets and stars are stunning. A relaxed breakfast on the big day with plenty space for everyone to get ready, Restless energy can be expended clay pigeon shooting, walking, golfing or mountain biking. The Hollybush Inn is a lovely country pub with open fire for a groomsman or ushers lunch.
There is a choice of three stunning locations for your ceremony and plenty grounds, terraces and balconies to choose from to have post ceremony drinks.
The dark skies wedding barn then has all the facilities for your wedding meal and evening party. You choose your food and caterers. Your day, your choice.
20 of the wedding party have accommodation provided in the main building as part of the hire and there is no-one hustling you out the door the next day.
For those seeking a banquet or gala dinner this can also be provided or if you are seeking to throw a big party celebration, just let us know.

Together with my wife Sarah we support your wedding to make it unique, relaxed and special. As a resident of the Tarset Valley I can promise The Comb is a truly special place. I have a varied background from the RAF, to running a shift in car building to being a trained chef then running restaurants. I am also a stone mason and builder and can vouch for the renovations at The Comb because I undertook a huge part of it along with local tradesman. We took real care in restoring the rustic splendor of this traditional farm steeped in history. Our role is to lay on the venue for your event, help with the logistics on the day and run and organise the bar and drinks. We are there to help but our ethos is to let you host, decorate and have the timing, numbers and catering according to your own taste. We try to stay in the background, support where we can but not interfere. We advice all couples to come and view The Comb if they are interested. It is impossible to describe in words or pictures the views, feel and ambiance of the place. We look forward to seeing your there.

Top Wedding Tips
Ensure you pick a venue that suits your style and makes you comfortable. Weddings don't have follow a formula & putting your own stamp on your occasion does not have to be stressful or cost the earth.
When looking at a venue and suppliers ensure you compare like with like. Hidden mandatory charges for catering, accommodation & drinks packages can see costs escalate and your budget blown.
Your friends and family are there to celebrate and support not judge you. Don't get too stressed about who will get along with who. A relaxed BBQ the night before can help break the ice.
The Comb Reviews

You have obviously put a lot of effort into making The Comb a place to enjoy and remember.

Everyone commented on how personal the space was but more importantly they had a great feed of booze - Irish style! You guys are an absolute credit to the venue. We will be back to visit!
