The Boathouse at Dougarie retains its stunning original features from when it was built in the middle of the 1800s with its curved roofs, exposed beams and incredible views across the Kilbrannan Sound to the Mull of Kintyre. This is truly a magical place and one of the most iconic venues in Scotland. Whichever way you look you will be blown away by the stunning scenery and your proximity to nature.

The Boathouse at Dougarie is an exclusive use destination wedding venue on the Isle of Arran. Celebrate your wedding day surrounded by spectacular landscapes and your own beach in a beautiful historic building built originally for the Dukes of Hamilton to entertain their guests. This understated, affordable luxury, is a relaxed atmosphere and the perfect setting for a wedding.

The location is remote and secluded enough to feel worlds away from the hustle and bustle of real life but easily accessible for your guests given its proximity to Glasgow and all its associated transport links.

There are 2 main areas to hold your reception within the building which give you the flexibility to create the wedding of your choice and we have a number of floorplans being developed to assist you with helping to plan your day come rain or shine. There are numerous outdoor locations which can be used for the marriage ceremony (weather permitting) and a large lawn area where a marquee can be located should you require more capacity. In the winter months we are able to make the Boathouse into a warm, cosy and romantic place with plenty of candles and twinkly lights. Although the Boathouse comfortably fits 70 (80 at a push) for a sit-down wedding breakfast it can fit 100 for a more informal style wedding or if you want more evening guests. Alternatively you could have many more with an additional marquee giving you the flexibility to plan your wedding your way.

We can arrange a "package" type option for you so you have much less arranging and logistics to do yourself or you may prefer to piece it all together independently... in that case we have a list of well-known suppliers who can make planning your big day a breeze. Packages for venue, food, photographer and piper starting around £9k for 50ppl but can be tweaked depending on what you want. If you would prefer to arrange everything independently then venue only hire starts at £3.5k. All prices are subject to VAT. The one supplier we insist on you using is The Dougarie Bar Company who run the bar and serve whatever drinks you are after to make you day special.

If you wanted to extended your celebrations we would be delighted to discuss the potential of arriving the day before so that you can host an informal evening event or a brunch / lunch the day following your wedding. You could host a relaxed buffet or a picnic/BBQ on the beach if you so wish, but this is all totally up to you.

Whether your wedding is small and intimate or a larger affair, the Boathouse is the perfect venue. We offer couples the use of this incredible building for their wedding day by hiring them the building and allowing them to create their own unique and memorable day.
We offer accommodation packages in the local hotel on a two night basis and in any of the Estate properties on an exclusive weekly basis so there is something to suit all guests. All our properties are renovated to a high standard and The Towers especially offers the most beautiful walk or drive down to the Boathouse for the Bridal party. There is accommodation in the surrounding area for all your guests to suit every budget and personal requirement from luxury hotels to bed & breakfasts.
