As a popular visitor attraction Stirling Castle is open to the public every day, therefore all wedding ceremonies and receptions take place out with our opening times (after 6pm from April to September and after 5pm from October to March).

The Great Hall, built in 1503, is the largest banqueting hall of its kind ever built in Scotland and was used for feasts, dances and pageants. In 1594 James VI held a banquet in the Great Hall for the baptism of his son Prince Henry. It was so lavish that the fish course was served from an enormous model wooden ship complete with firing cannons. The exterior walls of the Great Hall are a distinctive colour, rendered in Royal Gold harling, as they would have been in the 1500s. Our beautiful venue, The Chapel Royal, includes an original frieze from 1628 Childhood home of some of the most famous people in Scottish and British history, such as Mary Queen of Scots and James VI and I.
