Information For Park House Barn
Park House Barn is probably one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been, and yes you’ll say I am biased, but that’s because I live here and I have the privilege of waking up to it every day. This is why I am so passionate about being able to share what we have here with the couples who choose to share their special day with us at the barn.
Park House is a fully working farm which makes it a perfect secluded venue. We are licensed for wedding ceremonies and can offer bespoke wedding receptions, a marquee and tipi location, parties, corporate events or any other function.
Set in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside just off the main A6 road, it offers amazing views of the Kent Estuary.
The 16th century half- cruck barn is a fine example of its time, with original wood beams and rustic charm. The barn offers the flexibility to create your own unique event to achieve just the right atmosphere for your function.
The drive way overlooks the stunning view of the Kent Estuary and surrounding hills which are an ideal backdrop for photographs of your event.
The working farm has been the home of the Capstick family for over 30 years.
From ceremony to coaches our staff are on hand to help you craft your day YOUR way. This is the beauty of Park House Barn, it’s the most amazing backdrop to create the special moments that you will remember for the rest of your life!
Weddings big or small we can accommodate up to 200 seated guests during your day, and extend our capacity in the evening to 230 guests. Not only do you have full use of the main barn, you also have exclusive use of the bar area which runs adjacent to the barn (fondly known as The Cow Shed), where you can enjoy a quiet drink or you little ones can snooze the afternoon away. Ample parking is available for all guests.
Fancy a bit of fun in the grass? We can do that too. We offer glamping, camping and horse shoe or welly wanging. These are just some of the things you can use our outdoor spaces for, but don’t forget you can roam free with your photographer, finding hidden spaces away from the hustle and bustle of your guests.
As an alternative to the barn we can offer a marquee site which looks out over the Kent Estuary and surrounding hills.
We have plenty of car parking.
We are able to put you in contact with our excellent and reliable marquee and tipi companies
We will supply the cash bar to fit your requirements.
We offer a full coordination package for you to be able to create the day of your dreams.

Park House Barn Reviews

After several weeks of this we were contacted by the council and told that “The Barn at Park house farms” did not have a licence for weddings! and we were to contact them. We explained that we were struggling to get any response from “the barn at park house farms”. This made us feel quite lost and was quite upsetting for us. as we had given close to a months wage with no receipt for it and no way of contacting the people we had given it too.
We tried and tried and it got to the point of us contacting citizens advice and starting to look into legal proceedings. While waiting on a response from citizens advice after receiving all our information/evidence.
We recieved an email during this point from Jess demanding money for a payment plan that was not organised by us or agreed to, saying that we were behind on payments. Still no contact or contract received! We carried on with the trying to contact them emails, calls, messages.
We organised a day off work where we could both travel up to “the Barn at park house farms” in Milnthorpe taking us well over an hour for just the drive itself. We got there mid day and was there for a total of two hours looking for anybody, all the lights in the farm house were on and the guard dog at the back of the farm would bark when it saw us then get shut up by somebody. we walked all over the farm. looking for anyone to help us. getting covered in manure in the process. we were been ignored and hidden from. My partner broke down at this point as the view of the estuary was beautiful with the sun bouncing off it and the realisation that through no fault of our own we wouldn’t be getting married at this location and we had more or less been robbed of money that was not easy for either of us to come by. We contacted the council and explained that we have had no response from “the barn at park house farms” and we’re unable to make any contact and asked if they are able in anyway to make contact with them to please ask them to contact us, as we have been desperately trying to get hold of them.
Our next step… legal action.
Us not really wanting to do this as neither of us have any experience with solicitors or the legal system, we tried again to contact them and let them know that they had left us no choice and going down the legal route was our only option. As if by magic Jess managed to get this message and responded… finally! We organised a meeting with Jess and Abigail at “the barn at park house farms” in Milnthorpe. We had a meeting with Jess. Abigail wasn’t present and we were told that they had no reason to talk to us, as our wedding wasn’t for over a year away, even though the council had asked them to contact us, we were not important.
They agreed to give us our deposit back and they believed they had the money as they had recently sold some cows. Legally your deposit should be held in a separate deposit account not just spent by the company because they are hard up. we had to wait well over 2 months to get our deposit back because they had spent it. Please beware! These people don’t care about your special day. They just want your money and to do as little for it as possible.
