Blackfriars Priory is a stunning Historic landmark nestled in the heart of Gloucester city. Winner of an International Wedding Award 2021 and crowned as one of Gloucester's top three historic landmarks in 2020 and 2021, a Blackfriars wedding is guaranteed to wow your guests and create memories that last a lifetime.
With a fully enclosed cloister garden, the hustle and bustle of everyday life feels a million miles away. The tranquil garden and ancient buildings wrap you up in an historic idyll – it is the perfect place to make lasting magical memories.
Due to its prime location, Blackfriars offers an abundance of backdrops for your photos to suit your style. The enchanting garden is a beautiful outdoor space with a variety of architectural styles to choose from, while the historic docks offer waterside charm and the urban backdrop of the City is perfect for couples look for something a little different.
With unrivalled history, the Priory boasts three medieval licensed spaces with exposed architecture throughout the centuries and the site houses the oldest standing purpose built library in Northern Europe.
The North Range is an iconic room that will wow your guests. With a 65ft high ceiling with exposed original 13th Century wooden beams that were gifted by King Henry III, the remains of a first floor 16th Century fireplace and a fully glazed wall overlooking the ancient ruin that still features an ancient washbasin. This magnificent space can seat up to 150 people and has a capacity of up to 230 for a standing evening function.
The East Range is an historic and intimate, with the upper level perfect for intimate full day weddings and receptions of up to 50 people or ceremonies for up to 60.
Licensed in 2021, the Lower East Range is now available for micro-ceremonies for up to 14 people. This charming room is lovingly dubbed 'The Old Kitchen', as it features the remains of a 16th century bread oven and a rare herringbone fireplace.
