Selden Barns, at Old Selden Farm, is set within over 50 acres of the South Downs National Park; the idyllic rural retreat for your wedding day.
This family-run venue is exclusively yours to enjoy, and features beautiful, characterful barns, with Old Selden Farmhouse at the venues heart, and beautifully kept lawns and terrace overlooking open farmland and forests.
Selden Barns also benefits from nine guest bedrooms, accommodating up to 24 of your wedding guests, including the ‘The Gatehouse’ Newlywed Suite. Breakfast is cooked to order and served in the Farmhouse kitchen.
Wedding ceremonies are licensed for up to 100 guests in our stunning ceremony space; a converted barn adjoining the Farmhouse with original oak beams, fireplace and exposed brickwork. To add a little extra sparkle, fairy lights entwine the beams overhead whilst you make your wedding vows.
After your ceremony, enjoy pre-reception drinks and canapes on one of our lawns within the walled gardens, or terraces adjoining the Grand Barn; the location for your wedding breakfast and evening reception.
With capacity to seat up to 230 guests for your wedding breakfast and up to 250 for your evening reception, this versatile, flexible wedding space is second to none. With beautiful ivory pleated drapes, swags and tails, vintage chandeliers and a fairy light canopy, you and your guests will enjoy grandeur during your wedding day.
For your evening wedding reception, party the night away on our raised, chequered dancefloor with provision for a DJ or band and the bar located just a ‘boogie’ away! And for those warm, summer nights, step off the dancefloor and through the doors on to the splendid terrace and lawns to enjoy your favourite drink and look up at the stars.
Your venue hire package includes tables, chairs, fully stocked bar and staff, gift and cake tables, post box for cards, easel for your table plan, as well as ample parking. Also included in your hire will be a Wedding Coordinator to help you plan and oversee your special day, ensuring your wedding day runs perfectly.

When looking for a venue keep space in mind, a venue that is too spread out will segregate guests. Having the bar, dance floor, and food tables in the same area will keep everyone together.

We can’t recommend Selden Barns enough. Nicki, Ben and their team delivered on every level. From the first visit to the big day itself we were swept away by the dedication, kindness and professionalism. Nicki’s eye for detail and ability to liaise with all the different suppliers was fantastic. They ran the actual day itself like clockwork and with smiles on their faces at all times. It so good to deal with people who clearly enjoy their job. Thank you to everyone at the stunning Selden Barns for making our big day that little bit more special.

We just wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks for everything you did to make our wedding day so incredible. The venue looked absolutely stunning, and we received so many lovely compliments from our guests about what a beautiful location it was.
A special thank you to Saoirse, Nicki, and the team at breakfast the next morning, apologies, I can't remember the names of the two gentlemen (one gentleman was particularly funny and added a lovely touch to breakfast) you were all so accommodating, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It’s difficult to know where to start writing this, as my new wife and I had the most amazing experience working with the team at Selden barns and the venue it’s self. We utilised Selden barns for our drinks reception, wedding breakfast, evening celebrations and accomodation. We had our ceremony at a local church, however, there are two beautiful spaces to have a ceremony at Selden barns.
Nicki and her team were beyond fantastic, from greeting us from our first visit, multiple meetings during the run up, coordinating with suppliers and creating and executing the perfect timeline. All of this making our wedding run smoothly on the day. They were faultless! We couldn’t have asked for anymore.
The venue itself was beautifully laid out. A large grass area for us to have an outdoor drinks reception, with lots of shade in case it’s too hot. When it was time for confetti and our wedding breakfast, Nicki and her team expertly handled guiding our guests to exactly where they needed to be.
For the breakfast we had 12 tables plus the top table, there was space for more if we needed. There is a large bar which was utilised by all, as it was a very hot day, our guests weren’t waiting for more than a few minutes before being served drinks. There is a wide selection of soft and alcoholic drinks.
The dedicated dance floor was a big hit with our evening guests, who spent the majority of their time busting some questionable moves.
There is an outside covered seating area with heaters, if needed, which is adjacent to the dance floor with lovely seats with cushions on.
I could go on and on about the superb service we received but I’ll stop there.
We cannot thank Nicki, Ben and the other staff enough for a fantastic day. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone!
