I have only been engaged for a couple of weeks and have already fallen in love with the idea of a Zoo wedding .
We are hoping to get married Spring 2014 with about 50 Guest.
Has anyone been married or are planning to get married in any UK Zoos? Which Zoo? and how much roughly do you think it will cost me? Good/Bad experiences?
Thank you in advance for any reply’s

Hey Abi
When we started looking at venues we looked at Paignton zoo as its just down the road from us.
The prices were pretty good and i thought it would be pretty cool. Plus it had gorgeous grounds which would of looked fab for photos and you got to go in with some of the animals and have photos taken.
The only thing that put us off was that we couldn't get in until after the zoo had closed!

My sister really wanted me to have a zoo wedding! lol It sounds like a fun idea, and I'd be happy to do it, if I had lots of money...everywhere we looked at was well out of our budget, so went for a hotel package in the end..Hope you manage to find somewhere suitable and hope you get to have your wedding in a zoo! xx

I would have loved to get married in a zoo - Paignton zoo is my fave. I fell in love with plymouth national aquarium though - the back drop is amazing! I don't think they are badly priced - if we had a nice zoo/aquarium in our area then we would deffo be there but paignton - nottm is quite far!

I can't advice on price, however my cousin has a zoo wedding near Luton about ten years ago, and it is the best wedding I've ever been to. Was so different and very entertaining. The family still take about how good it was!!

Thanks for all your replies :)
I haven’t been to Paignton Zoo but looks nice does anyone know how much it costs roughly?
The Plymouth National Aquarium also looks amazing...reception with some sharks yes please...shame it doesn’t hold civil ceremony’s too.
I'm having a nightmare Engagement party planning this afternoon also....My partners family lives in Essex mine live in Warwickshire we live in Surrey....we cannot agree where to hold it...I am ready to give up but our families haven’t met yet and its probably best they meet before the wedding.

Its whipsnad zoo and I love it and we get to feed the animals lol
Fluffyk04 I think thats whipsnade
How many people are you planning on having and what type of food would you like to have?
Just seen that you want 50 people some places including whipsnade have a minium number so I would find that out as well

I would have love to have got married at Whipsnade Zoo.......its a 2 hour drive for us, and really with only having 16 guests, we thought it wasnt worth the effort it would have taken. More guests and we might have done.
I can resist anything but temptation

What a brilliant idea! I wish you luck in creating your zoo wedding. Wish I was brave enough to do something like that.

Longleat do it! I saw it on a tv show, the beauty of that is you have the amazing grounds of the stately home as well as the zoo bit! - Well, safari park really! London Zoo also definitely do it. I don't think either is particular cheap though so i'd get saving your pennies. xxx

I have nothing against London Zoo, we went there recently and the room is tiny thats the only problem that I would have with London Zoo.
I would have a look at the different zoos around your area and go from there I have got a big garden and three rooms with my one.
I can send you the information that I have got if you wanted? xx

Really mrsk2b? I was watching some programme on wedding venues yesterday and it had London zoo on there and their function rooms looked really big? or maybe it was an older programme.
Xabix - I cant remember on prices now but they werent that pricey compared to some hotels! If you go on their website it has some info and contact details for prices :) x

It still had about 10 round tables in there but you wouldn't of been able to of walked round them. Also it's not very private unless they block of the stairs as everyone would be able to look into the room otherwise.
This room is the mappin pavilion not the Prince Albert suite.
The Prince Albert one holds 250 people where as the mappin one holds 90 sorry just gone onto the website to make sure what ones what :-) x

When I enquired about paignton zoo I got this back -
"Thank you for your enquiry about holding your wedding ceremony here at Paignton Zoo. We have various ceremony locations at our venue and are also able to provide a celebratory drink and canapés as required. Please can you give me a little more information with regards to number of guests, wedding date and time etc.? If you wish to make an appointment to view our venue and explore options for having your ceremony here, I will be delighted to meet with you
Thank you for your reply with regards to numbers attending and prospective dates for your wedding ceremony. Normally our ceremony and venue hire charges are £450; as your guest numbers are expected to be around 20 and your dates are not during our peak times; I am pleased to be able to offer you a greatly discounted price at £250 to hold your ceremony here at Paignton Zoo. If you wish to have a chat about this please do not hesitate to call me on my direct number below."
We just wanted a small wedding... But they seem reasonably priced xx

There prices were pretty good when i enquired and theyve got some gorgeous gardens!
I done some of their wedding promo work! Got all dressed up in a wedding dress and had my photo taken in different locations. Though was slightly embarrassing as was soo busy and everyone kept stoping and staring haha. But i got to go in with the meercats and feed the giraffes so was good fun!
