Well neither my dad nor my step dad have shown any interest in me ever! so I'm either having my uncle who is like my best friend walk me down or my son. My son will be 3 by the time we get married so hopefully will understand a bit more and be able to follow instuctions haha!. But H2B won't know if my son will be doing it, I'd like to keep it a surprise :D it would be lovely having my son give me away as the invites are going to be worded as if my son is inviting people :) but just like croc this might be tricky, hes the RB and H2B really wants him with him on the morning :-\ and I'm a bit scared of the thought of traveling 30 miles alone in the wedding car with an excited toddler and my stomach turning with nerves!xx

im wierd i actually want to walk down on my own !!

Id love my son to do it but hes featured in the rose ceremony where having is looking after the rings and being an usher so doubt it would work hence why i wanna walk down on my own. plus more champers for me on the hrs long drive to the venue if am on me own hahahaha

awww bless mrsmac thats such a cute idea wording it like that on the invites

What age is your son? :)

Oh I will need someone to drag me down the aisle, im soooo shy! I wouldn't mind if it was all my friends and family watching but our guests are 20/80 to H2B! Oh its far too soon for me to be getting nervous lol! Mind I suppose I will be fine if I get to drink champagne on the way there ;)

my son is 10 hes my best mate.

i wanna walk down on my own as for the type of wedding were having and the style of my dress i think the photos will look better on my own more dramatic yet romantic .... plus ive lived on my own since i was 16 that was 15 yrs ago never went back home see my parents once a yr for a few hrs so feel that i dont need giving away by anyone if anyone is gonna give me away its gonna be me as ive looked after my self for half my life and ive done great... plus secretly i like being in the centre of attention so if am on my own everyone will look at me haha

I left home at 16 too so never felt the need to have one of my parents give me away either :) Yeah photos will be better, yor whole dress will be seen without someone covering a side of it hehe x

We don't know who is walking us down the aisle yet. We are not sure we want dads just because one of them isn't too supportive, and if we had one and not the other it would offend the other.

But i can't walk down on my own because it's on grass... and i know i would slip.

So its either W2B and I walk down together, or with dads... think the decision will change numerous times before the big day!

My Son and daughter are racing me down the aisle - 21 and 28 respectively and we have planned a couple of glasses of champers together before we go in to celebrate out times together and the start of something new ( and I do still get on with my dad and he will be there but he is delighted that the kids are doing it - he will give a speech but so will they)

Redbee - hope they start getting involved soon!

My dad's walking me down the aisle...I'll need him to lean on as I totter in my high heels! He's not sure about doing much of the speech as he's quite shy so I've said he can just do a toast.
If it wasn't him then I'd struggle as everyone else has their own part to play.

It might be my dad, but he's quite sick at the moment - hoping that he makes it too the wedding....if he's not well enough or doesn't make it then i'm going to ask my brother. I know people that have walked down the aisle themselves and one of my friends had her brother, another friend had her mum and dad walk her down....I don't think there is a 'norm' these days :-) x

My dad will be walking me down the aisle, but begrudgingly, he doesn't really want anything to with the wedding.
He won't even sit on top table and wants to sit as far away from my mum as possible. Idiot. He wont do a speech either.

I really wanted the youngest of my three older brothers to walk me down the aisle, or one of my best friends, but i have 3 brothers and didnt want to make one of them "special" without having something for the other two, so now all 3 are saying a short speech instead of my dads :)

I cant wait for the day knowing that all three of my brothers will be there for me :)
Be the first time we have all been together for a looooooong time :)
    xx

Mrs E2b I think you have already hit the nail on the head when you say 'I really wanted the youngest of my three older brothers to walk me down the aisle. I'm sure that your other brothers wouldn't mind at all so why don't you talk to them about it as ask if two will be ushers to help make them feel just as special? At least that way you are getting what you want and your so called dad who is being an idiot doesn't have to do it. It is your day and you shouldn't look back and regret it so follow your heart.

Thanks XjoX but we already have 8 groomsmen! H2B, 2 dads, BM, 4 Ushers so it would make it super awkward adding 3 more to the occasion.. and expensive as we are paying deposits on suits for them.
I'm happy for all 3 of them to do speeches as they will all have something quirky, and probably embarrasing, to say about me which will lighten the atmosphere of my dad being there!!
My brother is 6ft3 as well so he'd dwarf me at 5ft5 (With my 4inch heels)
    I cannot wait!!! xx

I've never known my dad so he wont be doing it, i was going to have my grandfather do it but he died 2 years ago which broke my heart as he always wanted to see me get married and he couldn't see any better bloke the my h2b he knew we got engaged but at that point in time we never set a date and he was always asking when the big day was, now he is gone i didnt know who to ask but after talking it through with my mum i have now asked her and i couldn't think of a better person, it's going to be a very emotional day for all of us but i know my grandfather will still be there
