I've been having a discussion with my Godmother and had a look online, and it's tradition for the Bridal Attendants (i.e. Bridesmaids) to pay for their own dresses.....what is everyone doing for their BM dresses?
CommentAuthor~*~ Becca ~*~
me and my bm have gone halves on the dresses cause we both know we're not the extravent budget for the wedding but she's happy with that..she has already got the shoes etc so no need to get them either x

I was thinking about asking them how they would feel about contirbuting, as we're not made of money (new baby and all that) I think I will tell them that I will be able to pay for a certain amount and then if they choose something that's extra then they will have to pay the difference. I just don't like to ask really, but I think we're going to have to do the same with the Grooms Men.
im paying for my bm as shes my daughter but moh is paying for her own!

My sister had me as her only BM and the only thing my daddy paid for was my dress (maybe hers aswell) It was £250 for the dress which at first he said no way to, we then had to go to every other shop on the planet, after weeks and countless alternate cheaper dresses he decided how perfect the first dress was, and even though I insisted the £50er off the sale rail was absolutely fine, I really did smile sweetly, he wouldn't let me wear anything other than that first dress. Just wish it wasn't deep red/blue or I'd be wearing it as my wedding dress!
For my wedding I'm not expecting a penny of anyone other than me & H2B. I will probably choose department store dresses that can be worn again and explain to BM's (not chosen yet) that they pay for the dresses and shoes etc. or If I have to pay they can look like blamonges. I will pay (I think) for them to have their hair done while they get ready with me on the morning of the wedding. Maybe make-up to.
I wouldn't be offended if I had to pay for my bridesmaid dress as if invited as a guest I'd have to buy a new frock anyway. Plus as bridesmaid you get the special pressi for being bridesmaid.
I'm now a married woman
I have a gorgeous husband
Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

I'm only having one bridesmaid and I will be paying for her dress
CommentAuthorWren
My daughters are flowergirl and young bridesmaid so I've paid for them. Not bad because I got the flowergirl dress from a charity shop and the bridesmaids dress from the bay of e. I paid for my ex MoH's dress which cost me £95 and as shes no longer MoH shes given it back. now I'm stuck with dress that will never fit me and I cant seem to sell it either. My sister is no MoH and she's said that she's gonna pay as she wants to be able to wear it again in the future.
Groomsmen are again paying for their own suit hire aswell

my MIL2b has bought all the BM dresses. and we hav bought their headdresses jewellry, flowers and shoes. i bought their shoes cos i wanted them all to match. i once saw a photo in a wedding magazine and all the BMs had different shoes and i thought it totally ruined the photo, so i hav bought all my girls the same shoes xx

We've bought our maid of honour's whole outfit. As she lives over in Spain, we are shipping it all out to her and she is paying for any alterations needed
CommentAuthorruthie87
my mum has paid for all the dresses including mine but the bridesmaids r my 2 sisters, my 2 nieces and h2b's sister.
CommentAuthorbobbysgirl
I'm really lucky. My aunty has a wedding dress company so she is giving me my dresses for my MOH and 2 bridesmaids. I just have to pay her seamstress for alterations as they are full length and i want them taken up to the knee. hasn't been discussed yet but i would like my maids to pay for their own shoes and jewellry i don't expect them to get matching as i would like them to add a bit of thier personality to thier outfits. they will do there own hair and make up as they all like it done a certain way they will never match anyway as one has a fringe but maybe all down and pinned back one side with a sparkly clip. my daughter who will be 2 1/2 will be my flower girl and we will buy her dress and shoes and she will just have her hair brushed with a sparkly alice band.
CommentAuthorlizzyleek
My Bm's are buying their own they knew before we start planning that if they would have to as we just didn't have the budget and they were quite happy with this so we have bought their accessories, and shoes etc as a compramise. x

Me and h2b are paying for our bm's dresses, just felt kinda guilty if we were to ask them to buy their own. They all (but one) offered tho which was nice of them x
