I've tried looking on the net and getting mixed answers.... Which side is the bride supposed to walk down the aisle? I have a weak left side due to being poorly when I was 13 and when I get nervous my arm tends to 'float' upwards and outwards!! I really could do with my dad having hold of my left arm but don't want to point out the obvious if you know what I mean.

I didn't even know there was a specific side! I genuinely wouldn't notice either way if I was a guest and I don't think a lot of people would either, so if you need your dad on that side have him on that side :) x

I didn't know either But I walked down in the middle as I had my step dad and my son walking me down.

ive just g00gled this, all the things I could see said that the bride walks down on her fathers right hand side (so he will be on your left). When I got married the first time I walked down with my mum on my left hand side but I wasn't sure if this was tradition or not (my mum gave me away as my dad is no longer with us). Hope this helps! Well I would have just thought to walk down the middle lol! But I think i See what you mean now. Traditionally the brides guests are seated on the left so id assume you woud walk on the left if you wanting to go by 'sides' x
Traditionally the bride stands on the dads right hand side (so he would be to your left) so that when you get to the end of the aisle you are stood between your h2b and your dad so you have nothing to worry about :) xxx

We were told I was on the left, dad on right by our priest so that's what we did.

my son gave me awayas my dad is no longer with us and he walked down on my left hand side, and my dad did the same when I got married for the first time years ago.

Thank you..... Logically, being on my dads right hand side as he can pass me to H2b but as you can see there are mixed opinions.
I think for my own comfort, i will have my dad on my left as it helps and supports my arm....I just have to overcome my fear of tripping up or twisting my ankle now lol....

You will be fine Emma! Like the others have said, traditionally your dad would be on your left side anyway so he can pass you to your OH when you reach the bottom of the aisle :) x

Normally your dad would walk on your left side. At the front you stand facing the officiant with the groom on your right, so he will stand to the right while you walk in, and when you and your father get to the front you will find yourself in the middle, with your father on the left and your husband on your right. Then when your father has done his bit he can sit down, and you and your husband are where you need to be.

From weddings that I have been to you are walked on your left side down the aisle and when you arrive at the bottom the groom should be on your right with you between the person giving away and the groom. This would work really well for you if you need your dad on your left. The reason for this is so the person "giving away" the bride doesnt have to step over the train/pass in front or behind the bride but smoothly slip away into their seat.

Oh, glad i read this as i thought the bride had her father on her right as he "gives" the bride to the groom. i really dont think it matters to much anyway what ever people feel comfy with
