H2B has booked me a black stretch limo-half paid for by his mum- but tbh (and this sounds really ungrateful) i wasnt overlly excited as i thought no one can see me in it- lol, then i had a moan about it seating 8 ppl when we need it to seat 9 (when travelling 10 mins up the road for pics- thats so all bridesmaids/pageboys can fit in too)- so feel really ungratful- but now ive seen pics etc im feeling better- so what car are you having- if any?- i was happy to go by taxi- but as mum in law is paying half im chuffed!!
CommentAuthorGemstar
Lucky you Lisa! I'll be driving to the venue in my own little car to get ready there. H2B will be travelling there on an old routemaster bus along with all the other guests! x

we're having a white baby bentley limo :)
CommentAuthorMelly
We wanted a VW camper, but i'm not sure how practiable it will be, so may end up just using our own cars. I'd probably travel there with my mum
CommentAuthorFordie
I'm hoping for a horse and carriage!! Whether or not I get to have one I don't know..I'm only in the 'research' stage of planning my wedding, and we haven't made any definite decisions, or have any definite plans, but I'd love, love, love to arrive in a horse and carriage...h2b's dream car would be a ferrari or a lambo haha....knowing my luck I'll end up walking hehe ;)
CommentAuthorL JO
I'm not having a wedding car its only less than a mile to the church from my parents and its down country lanes where no ones gonna see me so have decided not gonna bother wasting money as cars are so expensive and the reception is about 100 yards from the church so we will walk there ...lets hope its not raining lol
CommentAuthoryvonne
sazra..i really liked the silver cloud too..don't know if i'm having a car yet, might be staying at the hotel the night before..won't know till later, it depends on whether there's a wedding on the night before.. h2b saw a vw campervan at a wedding fayre we went to a couple of years ago when we first got engaged..now his brother has seen one and says he's booking it for his wedding this year..h2b is gutted. they booked there wedding the day after we did, but for this year, i wasn't bothered at first..but they just keep doing things we were thinking of.. xx
CommentAuthorMelly
I know exactly where your coming from Yvonne, he had that with h2b brother, so we decided to postpone ours. We felt as though we were ending up in their shadow
CommentAuthoryvonne
i would never postpone but i know what you mean, i didn't think it mattered at first..she only booked it out of jelousy, h2b's brother wanted to book it after ours but she went and booked it for this year anyway..the thing is he's lost his job, so they can't save so much..and i can't tell h2b's mum a lot of stuff incase she accidentally lets slip.. just gutted for him about the campervan. he's a volkswagon nerd..worked on them for years.. xx
CommentAuthorMelly
They might not end up getting one. How about a beetle instead of a camper van? xx

We are a hundred yards around the corner from the church and I feel hard of paying for a limosine so not really sure what we'll do

I was going to have a VW camper Melly (and h2b car of his choice) - as we're from Leeds and had seen a company in Grimsby advertising them (www.bigdaybuses.com). We've changed our plans now as we're getting married in Gretna Green - and although we haven't booked the hotel yet, I think we're going to be fairly close to the wedding venue so won't need to shell out the extra for one now (a bit disappointing but won't be in the car for very long). Looking at a 1930's style Beauford at the moment though from up in Gretna.
CommentAuthorJessH
Wedding cars are so expensive! I'm working to a tight budget so I think it might have to be one of the things I compromise on :( Would love an old vintage car, so romantic.
CommentAuthorMelly
The campers from bigdaybuses are just fantastic. They are very resonably priced as well.
My problem is that we are getting married in wiltshire, and i dont think they'll travel that far. xx
CommentAuthormym72
Just been looking on the net and saw this sambaweddings.com
They do camper vans as well - but they're based in hampshire (but willing to travel - don't know if this is nearer for you Melly..?)
CommentAuthorMrs Turps (Nicpep)
My dad is trying to convince me to have a limo as my mum and the bridesmaids can all travel to the chucrh with me. I'm coming round to the idea - he offered to pay too! yippee

im not having a car our budget didnt account for one
CommentAuthorkessy77
I'm the same tiggs! Would have loved something old fashioned but we just cant stretch to it. I asked for loads of quotes ages ago thinking I'd geta good price as the ceremony is short and so is the journey but all teh quotes were still well over £200, just cant justify that kind of money on our budget. We have been asking around friends etc to see who has nice cars. So far we have a blinged up black range rover but I think that will be HTB's car as there is no way I can clamber in and out of that! lol x
CommentAuthorlaura2481
We saw a lovely vintage seven seater limo at a wedding fayre last sunday so may be going with something along those lines, as my mum piped up saying she would like to ride in the car with me to the venue along with my dad, and my grandma could come too... and I may be having a bridsmaid now where I wasn't before. And they priced i though fairly reasonably at £320 as I had budgeted no more that £400 (and that really should be plenty enough, as we will only need one journey as ceremony and reception will be the same place)
CommentAuthorjodie
im not having a car as the ceremony reception and hotel is all in the same place
CommentAuthorNikkiB
I'm having whatever is the cheapest!!! xx
CommentAuthorMrs Daltry
the car i liked was £360 for 4 hours, and as our budget was tight i didnt want to use a large chunk on just one thing
CommentAuthorNikkiB
blimey tiggs, I don't blame you!! If We have our wedding at one venue we get the car free. I'll get ready at one of the cottages and it'll take me half a mile up the road!! Saves money I suppose!! xx
CommentAuthorMrs Daltry
im going with my mum dad and son in one car and my daughter is going in with my other bridesmaid and her husband,i would of liked a car but i really cant justify spending that amount of money on something i dont really need
CommentAuthormym72
We've seen the Beauford for £140 - and that's doing two trips and the most scenic route to the ceremony and then after the pics on to the reception. The company say they like to keep their prices cheaper than local companies elsewhere because it gives everyone a chance to have good transport on their big day. As it's in Gretna I suppose there's also a lot of competition for them as well - but they are definitely cheaper than including it in the wedding package that we booked.

I'm having a double decker routemaster bus for the whole party and hopefully a black hackney carriage as my bridal car. We live in yorkshire but I'm a londoner so its my influence on the wedding lol xx
