Doesn't work like that- its to cover their losses for not selling drink, not to actually take the cork out. What does the £7 cover?

i dont actually think it needs to be "corked" all the time before they charge..i think its just a general name for a charge for someone bringing their own drink!!!

all venues need to charge corkage hunni, as it is there personal licence and there business is selling drink!!, we are paying 10.50 for three drinks per head which is rather reasonable, when you concider that you get 3 drinks per bottle the £10 charge is equivilant to 3 glass sale to them plus you are paying for the bottle yourself so that would work out expensive depending on what you want to give your guests given the average drink is approx£4, but a good deal if its champagne you are offeringxx, now that's a cheaper option if you only want a toast or a welcome drink
our kids are £4.95 for three drinks which l think is good pretty average, you can give out a small miniture 3 for £5 from asda as a favour gift, your guests are not suppose to drink them on the premises, but then you can't control every guest, if you get my drift ;-) xx

Basically they do it, so you buy the drinks off them and dont take your own - cause every venue knows that nobody is going to pay 10 plus the cost of the bottle to take in - unless you make your own wine. x

Shelly best idea is to talk to them and see what they can do. Our drinks are included in our meal package but at my previous venue we were going to buy bottles of wine to put on the tables as it worked out cheaper!

We're going to buy our own and pay for the corkage. our drinks package is 18.50 per head for arrival drink, two glasses of wine with the meal and then fizzy for the toast. Even though we'll be paying 10 per bottle for corkage, it'll either work out cheaper or our guests will get more for the price we would have been paying. We're having M&S pink fizzy and will buy it when they do 3 for 2 and we're going to do 3 for £10 deals. We're also giving miniature vodka and JD in our favors. Quite a number of our friends have done it this way and I estimate we'll be saving about £200. Hope that helps xx
