Hi anyone who is or has got married abroad what are you or did you wear?i've found an actual wedding dress that like but when I tried it i thought it was actually quite heavy even though it's a small dress and it might be quite hot to wear. Also not sure how I'd get it out there or if a traditional wedding dress is for me?i thought it was now I'm not so sure. Also I'm having a reception when i come home so don't know what to wear to this either!any help, suggestions or ideas would be amazing! Also to top it all off I'm on a mega tight budget as we're paying for the whole wedding ourselves. Thanks in advance ladies x

You have a lot of choices available to you. I've seen women wear more casual dresses for their weddings abroad, and I've also seen ladies wear more traditional gowns. Do you know where you're planning to get married. Obviously the weather you expect and the venue will have to guide your choice of gown. I'll bump some threads for you about weddings abroad. There are a lot of ladies here who have married abroad or are planning weddings abroad and I'm sure they'd love to help you with any questions you have.

Yes my h2bs cousin we'd in Mexico she had an ivory one shoulder from monsoon and another from coast they were both lovely x
We got married in Vegas and it was HOT! Averaged around 43C. I wore a full-on wedding dress. Yes it was hot and by 9pm I was pretty uncomfortable so changed before heading down to the hotel bar for drinks, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. We also had a blessing back here a month later and wore the dress for that too. I was also too hot that day LOL!

Im getting married in Kefalonia in May and Ive gone for a traditional wedding dress. Its actually quite a big dress and made out of satin, but it was made my a designer in Hawaii, so it's hot there!!1
The wedding dress shop are packing my dress for me, they do them in travel boxes to keep them, and then just get it out and leave in bathroom to drop any creases. Ive found a dress press place there if i need one anyway.
Im also having a reception when we get back, so wearing the dress again. After its been dry-cleaned (by the dress shop again)
Go with your heart- you will only wear it once, so get the wow factor!!

Hey thanks for all the input. I looked at your pics la la I wasn't sure which dress you were talking about. I like your invites by the way where did you get those from?
I got a special box with acid free paper to pack it in. The box was taken in to the c0ckpit with the pilot for safekeeping, both on our outward and return journeys.

You can get some gorgeous Grecian styles that could be good for a wedding abroad xxx

I'd go with whatever dress you want - to be frank, wedding dresses aren't designed for comfort anyway.
It was 27 degrees when we got married in the uk, and my dress was quite heavy, but to be honest, I didn't really notice it until I got back to the hotel at the end of the night...I have no doubt that a Grecian style dress would be more comfortable, and personally, I think they are stunning, but they didn't suit me when I tried one on.
Bear in mind that if you are planning on having the same dress for your abroad and uk do, it will almost definately need dry cleaning in between, which can cost a further £100 or thereabouts - I was surprised at how filthy mine was by the end of the day!! Particularly if you are planning on going on the beach for pics etc...
