Im new here guys and really need some sound and practical advise!

I went about 7 weeks ago to get my wedding dress from a shop in birmingham, it's an Asian store and she clearly wrote on the receipt no refunds/exchanges. When taking the order she said to me oh the time looks a little less and then she said okay we'll do it anyway.

I've been calling them for the last week and to no avail, all i get is it's still in the process, it will be here don't worry - when will it be here I have a week left and all my accessories still to buy!!!

I feel like crying, what can I do?

I have a receipt of what I paid which was half of the deposit but unfortunately she didn't give me a copy of the date she wrote down for it to be delivered by which was supposed to be this week - it's now been 7 weeks and no sign, can you guys please help me before i break down?

I'm not sure if anyone else has had dealings with these stores but they are very unreliable :(

Ok, I know this is easy for me to say, but try and keep calm. Are you local to the shop and able to pop there to speak to someone if you're having no luck getting them on the phone?

Can you not buy your accessories now before you have the dress. you know what it is going to look like as you tried it on.

I would go into the shop and ask for more details. They can't ignore you that way.

Yes I would buy all your other accessories but also go into the shop and not leave until you get it!

Sam you definitely need to go in and stand your ground. Like others have said, you can still buy your accessories anyway and just make sure that they match when you get your dress.
There are also shops that sell off the peg if you are really stuck so you won't be out of a dress.

Hi guys! Thank you - I got my friends to call in the end because they're a lot more intimidating than i am lol and she gave me my dress on Friday! So I'm all set - they never tell you planning a wedding causes so much stress, one little thing can affect your whole plan, but I'm getting there slowly yet surely.

I was just reflecting today how I have no sisters to help me out on my big day just sat with dad and had a cry :/ i see all these brides have their sisters helping and sharing their sorrows, but I am truly doing this alone - I guess I need to make the best of what I have.

I know how you feel Sam - I have no sisters of my own nor any real close friends so I'm having to share my stresses with my fiancé!

We always manage to make do and I am sure you will have a wonderful wedding day no matter what x

I don't know how to quote on this but Wundatigga - it's nice to know someone else knows how I feel!

You know if you had a sister at the wedding if God forbid something went wrong they'd run to get it sorted, but with no sisters you have to do the running yourself in that dress lol

That's great that you've got your dress. What a relief! I have no sisters either. I do have 2 bridesmaids and they are lovely friends but I've never had that close friendship with anyone like some girls have. Good luck for your wedding day, I'm sure you will have a fab day xx

I'm so glad you got your dress. I don't have any sisters either, but I had a few close friends as bridesmaids, and my SIL.

I have no sisters either. My bridesmaids are my two closest friends but both are currently pregnant and on the day they will both have babies under 6 months so wont be helping me either.
Stop trying to think of the negatives just enjoy what you have and the day will be better for it. Hope you have an amazing time xxx

Sam that's such good news :)

I'm not having any bridesmaids and to be honest my sister and I aren't close at all, we don't really speak and I don't have that many friends. It is just OH and I but I can tell him anything so it all works out.

    Have an amazing day :)

Great to hear you got your dress sorted. Even though you don't have sisters, it sounds like you have some good friends to help you out when you need it. X
