Was just chatting to my mum as she has had some cards given to her for us and she mentioned that the best man reads these out at the reception, which confused me. I seem to recall this may have been done at a wedding I went to years ago, but is this the norm, would people expect their cards to be read out? What are others doing/have done?

    Thanks in advance! :)

I think maybe the best man reads a sample of the messages from the cards. But only if you want him to do this - you don't have to it's up to you! Think probably the cards that are from relatives a long way away that can't be there etc are read out x

I think this is a wedding tradition - usually messages from those that were not able to make the wedding and want to send their regards. I think it's quite sweet! x
