Well you would usually have the wedding breakfast directly after the wedding ceremony (usually a smaller amount of guests then that of the evening reception), then during the evening reception (when extra guests start arriving) you could then opt to have a buffet (usually around 8-9pm).

You don't have to have both but bear in mind what time your wedding ceremony is as you don't want your guests to go hungry if its an earlier service.

Some people have the ceremony around 4pm then just jump straight into the reception and offer a buffet for everyone. It's up to you really:) x x x

You don't have both. We are but we are in 1 venue which helps. We have to pay extra for the buffet. Weddings at 3pm and the evening do starts at 6pm. its up to you my H2B wanted a sit down meal i didn't. I wanted a disco he didn't. So we are having both

We were thinking have it at about 2pm then have something to eat like a meal or buffet and then having the cake cut, speeches, first dance ect and we would go on our honeymoon and the rest of the guest can stay by the bar if they wanted to and party all night. Do you think that sort of thing is ok? God this is all so new to me and sooo confusing!

Were having a similar thing hun..

    Get married at 2pm
Off to the Reception to have some buffet and little get together
Relaxed speeches, cut the cake, picture etc
Chill with the guests and have our little party (no dance floor or anything like that.. just a bar and music on)
Then off to our hotel room for the night ;)

Just a nice relaxed simple yet very effective day!! :) xx

unfortunately the only time what was available for our wedding venue is at 11 am. but we aren't having our sit down meal till 3.
so there is a large gap which we need to fill not sure how yet.
then at 6 when the meal is finished our other guest will arrive for the reception party.
