Myself & h2b are now having a sit down meal & a buffet for all our evening/day guests...
I have thought about having a seating plan and of course a top table, H2b isnt over keen and he said people can sit where they like, Im not 100% sure on this one.
Who are you having on your top table? I have just serched the internet and seen who traditionally sits onthe top table, But what about ushers we have two, Wouldnt feel right without them there as were all so close (Friendships) But it will be a very long table.. I have thought about not putting the parents onthe top table but i cant see that going down very well,
I just dont know what to do.... HELP! please!

i will be having a seating plan dreading do it though. as regards to the top table we are having a small round table with just me, h2b our 3 kids his parents and my sister and brother (my stand in parents) i would have who you want on there i don't think many people now have traditional top table any more as theres not many traditional family's any more so if you want the ushers on there have them i have seen some really long top tables as long as you venue can accommodate it.

We are only having us and our parents on the top table, and then a seperate table for the bridesmaids/Moh and ushers/best man so that they can sit with their partners, but it will still be a special table as it is for the bridal party and will be the one closest to the top table, probably infront of me and h2b xxx

Our top table consists of us, our three children, my parents and his parents and thats it!
I think in this day and age you can have pretty much who you want on the top table and if you dont want them then dont. As long as the table isnt 20+ people I think its fine and even if it is you could make all the other tables the same so it wont look silly anyway :-)

We're having a seating plan for our sitdown meal. I've kind of provisionally done it for the guests we're inviting. If they rsvp with a no it just means there'll be more space on that particular table. The top table with be me, h2b, my son, my mum, mil2b and fil2b. The bridesmaids and best man will be sitting with their own families on their own table :) So far so good - but I haven't sent the invites yet lol ;)
I am having the same problem! I have 2 sets of parents, we have 2 pageboys, 3 bm's and 2 best men! We have thought of a few ideas but not set on one yet! I have seen some people just have the bride and groom at the top table and have an empty seat at each other table so they can move around during the reception enabling them to sit with everyone :)

Thats a good idea to just have parents and then the bridal party on another table close to us never thought of that :) Ive started doing a table plan and all ready stuck! I knew this was going to be a big headache Lol x

You can have whoever you want on your top table. Ours will be weird as my parents will be on there, but h2b's parents don't want to come, and we'll have all the bridesmaids on the top table as they're my sister and her two young daughters. We're also going to a wedding this summer where no parents or family are on the top table, but the ushers and their partners are. It's completely up to you. But I would definitely have a seating plan. It would be chaos letting everyone choose their own seats xxx

I would advise against not doing a table plan as that could get messy! Out top table is us, both sets of parents, 2 best men & 2 BMs. Other ushers are sat on other tables with thir families/wives friends x

I have done a seating plan, On our top table there is.. us, Maid of honour and best man. My parents have split and DO NOT get on lol so each set of parents are hosting their own "top table" on normal round tables in front of our table xx

Not having a seating plan can lead to total carnage.
We're definitely having a seating plan.
The top table for us at the moment is a bit sticky and I'll prob end up posting on here nearer to my big day.
If my grandmother can make it over from Malaysia which I hope she can as she the only grandparent I have left now after losing my other grandmother in January (10 days after we got engaged) - we will have to try somehow to accommodate 13 people at a table that will only take 10 max.
There'll be, me, H2B, my grandmother, my mum and dad, his dad and girlfriend, my sister and BIL, his sister and BIL, their 3 year old and 8 month old (they will be by the time our wedding comes around). Not sure how we'll work that one out!
My other BM, his bestman and two ushers will sit with the other guests around the room so that the main bridal party are spread out, I think it'll be nice for some of the other guests to have a member of the main bridal party sitting with them, plus three of the four of them have partners they'll need to sit with.
I'm dreading doing our seating plan.

I always thought the top table was for brides family and h2b family? although none of my parents will be at mine and as long as im not sat to my mil ill be happy xx
CommentAuthorLinzi-jo
Traditionally you would have the best man and maid of honour on the top table as well as the bride and groom and both of their parents FernP61 xx
