At the venue we have the choice of a long top table or a round one? I am stuck to choose- I like the social aspect of a round table that you will be able to chat to everyone but then the rest of the room can't really see you and you may have your back to people which I feel is quite rude
What are your views- long or round?

We're going for long. We wanted the traditional way and agree with you it's little rude for guests to see your back xx

I think long, it makes it stand out differently to the others.

Throwing a different view in here haha We have gone for a round top table, and rather then having it set aside we are going to sit in the middle of all the tables with the rest set out around us, we have done this for a number of reasons but the main one is because we have a very messy and broken family dynamic and a traditional top table just would not work. My Top table will be ME OH, Best Man + GF . BM , MOH + husband, By doing this we can still be equally close to all of our family tables, all sets of parents are then hosting their own family tables which means I can also keep my parents who are divorced and not that amicable separated but equally involved, there are pics of the round table set up in my albums and it works really well
We are going to have a long table, partly because it fits well with numbers (6 round + 1 long), partly because I want to be able to see everyone.
My sister sat at round tables though, they were sort of at the edge just inside the door so without their backs to anyone, it made it much less formal and more relaxed. I guess it depends on the way you want your day to feel x

Ours will be long with all the other tables round.
Have you had a look at pics of the room set up with long and round top tables to compare?

Hey all
Yes I've seen pics of both and they both look good- think I am more inclined for long table

We are going for a long top table at the moment with round tables for the rest of the guests.
This may change later on and end up being a small top table for just the OH and myself, due to current illnesses within the immediate family which unfortunately may mean that some family members may not be with us for the wedding.
Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

We had a round table because it's traditional in my culture to. Plus we didn't like the idea of everyone watching us eat the whole time. Everyone could still see us though as the position of the table was where a long one would be so no one was behind us. I wouldn't have been comfortable with a long one. TBH I've been to lots of weddings and most have gone for the round top table (not just weddings from my culture). Each to their own though x

We are having a long one with 12 people on it and all the rest are round tables with 7 or 8 people on. Well that's the plan anyway we will see if that happens once RSVP's are back.

I like the traditional long top table but can also see how a round table would be good as well - I think we actually had the same debate when we were trying to decide due to the social aspect, but we then decided to have a sweetheart table anyway. If going for a round one I like the idea of it being in the middle of the room so that you are surrounded by your guests x
