Tesco and co op pharmacy do there own make of tablet, it is exactly the same as the cannesten tablet, I think it is about £6. Natural yoghurt helps relieve the "itch" but I have never managed to get rid of it with this.

It's ok to use yogurt for the outside, but thrush comes from an imbalance in the yeast bacteria inside. You can eat natural yogurt, and apply it to your lady area, but you really need a tablet internally or you will keep getting it time and again hun. ALSO your man needs to use antibacterial cream like canestan too or he could be reinfecting you every time you have s.e.x. you should steer clear of very perfumed soaps and shower gels too ..... TIZ a nightmare!! I hope you get shot of it soon

Also avoid tight clothing and nylon knickers as your area down there needs to breathe and if it cant then the bacteria that causes thrush will grow due to humid conditions.

Natural remedies for thrush include live yoghurt inserted into the vagina, adding vinegar or bicarbonate of soda to a bath to alter the acidity of the vagina and tampons impregnated with tea tree oil. However, there is little scientific evidence to show that these remedies work.

Most chemists have own brand treatments for thrush but also may be best to get checked out by the doctor as any discharge is best to get checked properly whether you have had thrush before or not. xx

I used to get thrush ALL the time and went to the doctor about it, but then as I kept getting it I stopped going to the doctor and self-prescribed. BUT then I went to the doctor again after having it for about four months in a row and the female doctor I saw said it isn't thrush and gave me some other cream and it is totally amazing!!! I very, very rarely have any problems now. Have you been to the doctor about it? :o)

Yes Tiggs its called Diflucan so well remembered, most oral tablets contain fluconazole which is the main ingredient to control the thrush. You can buy Fluconazole 150mg tablets over the counter for half the price of Canestan Oral Tablets and they work just the same. x

you can get it from the docs on prescription for £7.20 or £7.40 whatever the price is and make sure that your OH doesn't have it and if you don't use condoms he needs to use the cream for 2 weeks to stop him passing it back to you!!! xx

top tips - get rid of it with canesten, its the best treatment and worth the money, then avoid getting again by wearing cotton underwear, no synthetic fibres, avoid tight fitting clothes, things that dont let the area breathe, no tights, lycra cycling shorts, tight jeans etc, avoid scented bath oils, shower gels, soaps, anything that has a smell to it, stick to just water, or Simple products, try odourless garlic capsules, supposed to be effective deterrent, 'good bacteria' drinks such as Actimel, live natural yoghurt (to eat or put on your nether regions, both ways are good!), some people swear by a bit of tea tree oil in their bath water, others microwave their damp freshly laundered knickers to kill the yeast spores, its also important to get partner checked out just in case he has it too as he will just give it back to you! And try to keep your bits cool and dry, yeast doesnt like that! (Youd never guess I was a sexual health adviser would you, sigh.... lol!!!) PS. If you go to your local GU clinic you will treatment for FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok maybe a bit late with reply, go to tesco buy a small pot of natural yoghurt. spread it all over and leave for half hour, i thought was **** but it actually works not joking, i swear by it at TOM (Time OF Month). i get it every month coz of pads rubbing. you can get it from the stupid'st of things which is annoying. honestly! its about 40p, so worth a try at least, not everyone is the same, but bloody brilliant for me. drink lots of water and juice too, but natural yog gets rid in half hour!!! but also depends on the situation that your gettin it from though hun. specially if its just irritation coz of TOM. depends on situation. also buy femfresh wash, no perfume totally ph balanced so dont irritate inbetween either, which is a huge help trust me, wshing with anything that is acidic or alkaline can cause it. so try femfresh after its gone and see how it goes! i honestly swear by it xxx ash
