Hi lovelies. Just wondering if you or your OH's have got or are considering titanium rings? My wedding ring will be white gold and I'd always assumed OH would have white gold too, but he's sent me some pics of some rings he likes this morning and they are titanium. I'm not much a jewellery buff so I don't know a lot about titanium! I think it's stronger than gold/white gold and more resistant to scratching/denting, etc.. is that right? I know the colour is slightly darker, but OH wants something a little bit different so this isn't an issue. I guess the question is, would it be a suitable wedding ring? I don't mean to sound like a snob, but we do want something of quality shall we say.. but surprised at how cheap they are! Thanks x

The main pros of titanium are affordability, and strength/durability (it is extremely strong). It's also veyr light, which could be a pro or con depending on your personal feelings (OH and I both went with platinum which is very heavy, as we like the 'heft' of it). The cons are that it is difficult to work with, so designs tend to be more limited than with other metals (no big deal though if you want a fairly plain ring which most men do), and it is also difficult and expensive to re-size (a lot of people end up just buying a whole new ring, and some people dislike it for this reason as they prefer a wedding band to be a 'forever ring' and don't like the idea of getting a new one).

H2b has a titanium ring with a suspended sapphire 3.5'mm also sandblasted sides and polished it's darker than my rings as my rings are all palladium your rings don't have to be matching as long as h2b loves his ring as much as yours I did want us to have matching rings but for h2bs ring would have to be a funky shape like a lightning bolt type shape to match my 3 bridal set but he didn't like that idea so I let him choose what he wants the ring is different and I like it not your normal rings you can have a look at them on the official wedding ring page Xxx

Titanium is hard wearing and lightweight. I work for a jewellery wholesalers and we have a lot of stainless steel in our mens jewellery collections. My OH is an electrician and one of the jewellers I spoke to at a wedding fair suggested titanium for him. He has gone for a 9ct yellow gold band though.

The problem is with having two different metals for engagement ring and wedding ring is that they rub together a wear down a lot quicker so most decent jewellers will advise against it x

They are definitely the more popular choice for men these days as they are much more hard wearing. I wouldn't personally want one as I don't think they are pretty enough.

The lady in the the shop we went to tried to put us off titanium, wasnt best impressed. If you like it and nothing else stands out then go for it.

This is an old thread I know but, just to address a few of the issues raised in case anybody comes across this and gets confused (talking as a maker of Titanium rings).
Titanium rings can be resized but it depends on their style ie, if they are inlaid with precious metal or diamonds or 'plain'. Plain rings from standard Ti will resize quite readily up or down; Aircraft grade is a no-no! Tough as old boots that is and won't budge much at all! :-) I have an article on our website concerning the resizing of Titanium rings.
Our rings (GETi) are made for both men and women and come in any width you want, not all women like narrow rings and they can go down to 2mm wide if required but it depends on whether the style will look ok on a narrow width.
Contrary to popular belief, Titanium rings will scratch (quite quickly actually) but will take on their own character in time. A polished ring will dull down and a satin ring will brighten up - they all end up looking the same in the end but they will never wear out and will last a lifetime.
Yes a Titanium ring worn next to a precious metal ring will wear the precious one out…… eventually. It's not an overnight process but it should be taken into consideration.
They can be cut off in an emergency, you wouldn't be able to repair them afterwards though.
