I am currently losing weight after having my twins last year! I went to get measured before Xmas and apparently was a 14 top 16-18 waist and hips (39 1/2 bust 33 1/2 waist and 44 hips) and when it came to ordering my dress I chose a 14 as got until May to shift the pounds! The measurements so she told me are 39 bust, 30 waist and 41 hip! Googling it suggests this is actually a size 12?!?! Have I made a booboo?? Do dress sizes for wedding dresses differ that much from normal shop sizes?? My dress is a Romantica one so british I think!! Its too late now but if this is the case I am going to have to flipping well go fer it!! xxx

wedding dresses do come up differnet sizes. when i ordered mine i was a big 10, small 12 and they ordered my an 8!! made me feel so thin. i am now a comfitable 10 and tried my dress on last week and it is just right but can not afford to lose anymore weight.

all dresses r different! my lady said u meant to go up a size but am a size 14-16ish and said wen it cums to orderin my size i wud b a 14 if i dint loose owt1 so dont stress x

Wedding dress sizes are randomly made up as they go along. You'll get ppl telling you they're always small sizes but then they'll be just as many ppl telling you they ended up with a smaller size than normal. Try to find the sizing for Romantica gowns somewhere cos each label has it's own randomness. I'm a comfortable 12 yet they ordered me a 16. Go figure.x

They are all very different, my Justine Alexander dress is a US 12 which is bigger over here, as I was an 18-20 when I bought it, I'm now only a couple of inches away from it fastening to the top. Sizing seems to be very random with wedding dresses!!!!

dress sizes are defo diff to high street. My sis is a size 12 and they made her have size 18. A friend of mine was a 10 and she had to have size 14 dress. My dress is weird though as mine seems to be the size I actually am wooo wooo no messing around.

Wedding dresses have a size of their own. That is why they have to take your measurements and use a chart to find out what size to say it is for each designer as they all use different measurements. Its why they tell you that you usually have to go up two dress sizes. Its not because you are any bigger its just that what is usually a size 12 they use them measurements for a size 16 dress. I think they do it because they can charge more money for a plus size dress and if they make them smaller they can charge more money from more women. The average woman is a size 14-16 so if they can turn them into 18+ they make more. I've been to a few bridal shops that charge 10% more for size 18+. Luckily my shop isn't one of them.

i am normally a size 14 top and 12 bottom but my dress is a 16, and fitted perfectly before i put on some weight, which i am trying to lose lol, each dress is so different and fits differently, the dress really needs to be tried on so that you can gauge what weight or alterations need to be done, good luck :) x
