I know it's not wedding related & I'm sorry but I'm at my wits end! My poor little boy has cut his bottom two teeth but now the top ones are coming through and he is in such a bad way. I've used powders, gel, nurofen, calpol but nothing seems to be helping for any period of time and now for the past couple of days he's literally having 6/7 dirty nappies almost none stop his poor little bottom is so red! I honestly don't remember going through this with my daughter and just wondered if any of you have any pearls of wisdom? The health visitors say it's normal but I just want to make him feel better :( x

Have you tried baby massage to soothe him? though obviously avoid the face. I dont know what to suggest really as you've tried powders etc for his bottom have you tried bepanthen and the bepanthen wipes instead of normal baby wipes?

bless him hope it passes soon

Ice pops are good, leave in the plastic make sure there are no sharp edges on it first and cut a small hole in the wrapper so he can get some of the flavour too. lots of Bepanthen or Sudacrem for his bottom. I've been told not to use vaseline as it just makes it overheat and worsens it. oh and just use cotton wool and water to clean him, the chemicals baby wipes will be stinging.
Alternate painkillers e.g use calpol and 2 hours later ibuprofen (make sure no paracetamol in the ibuprofen syrup) and then 2 hours later more calpol etc etc.
Unfortunately other then that there's not much you can do.
My little boy was the same, really bad with his teeth but my daughter never seemed bothered, we'd just notice a new tooth had come through. I think it's mainly a boy thing.
I hope your poor little man starts to feel better soon
    good luck :)

    Thanks for all the advice!

We noticed that with the wipes yesterday Mara the Tesco's ones were too strong he was screaming when I wiped him so I stopped using them. Got Sudocrem but the problem is he is literally going to the toilet within half an hour of having the nappy on and so it's not having a chance to work, got some organic stuff too. Hadn't thought about the icepop/lollies though will get some frozen ASAP :) He's sleeping at the mo after crying himself to sleep :( will try the baby massage when he wakes up never know it might manage to calm him if nothing else... x

Try bepathen on his bum my lil girl was the exact same and that was better than sudocream and cleared her up in no time. We just gave her some nurofen for her teeth cutting through or bonjela.

Try using some frozzen carrots it worked to cool down the gums but wont do any harm if he eats some. For his bum just try let the air get to it

I feel for you Hun, my little one is teething at mo too. She has her 2 top & 2 bottom but think she has more coming through as she has been do upset last couple of days, dirty nappies & sore bum & runny nose. I find the dentinox gel the best of the teething gel, if I put a big on her dummy she goes straight to sleep. I also find if she chews on a biscuit it helps for a while or those teething beads. Good luck honey, hope they come through soon xx

rosei, my little one is starting to teeth, although I can only feel them coming through. I also find that taking them out for a walk does the trick, if only for 20 minutes. It's like they need a distraction, so going out for a walk does the trick.

Have you thought about just letting him lay on a towel (which you don't mind being spoiled) without a nappy to get some air to the rash? It could help it to heal? I suppose anything is worth a try.

Good luck, and if you find a sloution please share it with us, espeically me!!!

My grandma used to dip my dummy in brandy and rub it on the gums.....I think the alcohol numbs the gums. Didn't do me any hard :-)

Hhmmm I have a bottle of whisky in the kitchen lol!

Awe Lisa how old is your little one? I let him lie free earlier think he felt quite strange as apart from when he gets out the bath he's always covered up. But I do think it's the only way I'm gonna get it to heal so will definitely be trying it again later. x
