I think it's a nice idea, you could get it on your wrist or ankle or if you want to be a bit naughty, so only he see's it, you could get it in intimate place x
Met on 7th April 2008
Got engaged on 14th November 2011
Getting married on 12th December 2012

It's not something that I would personally do. I have a tattoo on my right arm, but I'd definitely not get anyone's name. After all, nothing in life is set in stone!!
CommentAuthorTsukijin
We've got ours done when we were 16 lol! his on his chest, mine on my back. We still love them (and each other) 8 years later :) I think inner wrist is a nice place but I have no space there ;D

I personally would never get anyones name tatooed on me. My ex went on to get married and had his wifes nname tattooed one one arm and our daughters name on the other. He went on to have a very bitter divorce and dropped out of our daughters life for good also.I often thought that he must hate to see both names consatntly reminding of him of what an **** he'd been .Now noone ever goes into a marriage thinking it wont last forever nor should they but to have a permanent reminder if it did go wrong ? xxx
CommentAuthorObsidian_Winter
Don't go for anywhere near your stomach/abdomen because if you get pregnant it will stretch and not go back the same, but otherwise I think it's a great idea.
When choosing the location consider a few things: can it be covered when needed? If it is somewhere that would be protected if you curled up into a ball it will be more sensitive than an exposed area; and will you still like it if it's blurred and/or wrinkled?

me and my h2b were talking about this the other day.. we want to get a tattoo on each of us that look like they go together but dont look stupid on their own if you know what i mean?

I think tattoos are so personal that it's completely up to you. I have just one (so far!), on the inside of my ankle, and could imagine getting another one to commemorate the wedding. In my case it mightn't necessarily be h2b's name, but something else that makes me think of him, so I think you should do whatever's right for you :) As to where, again, your choice. Only thing I would bear in mind is whether you have the type of job where they aren't keen on tattoos being visible...?? That's the only reason I can think of to be careful where you pick, but that's not an issue for loads of people so hopefully won't be a problem ;)

I would love to get one to commemorate our wedding but no names!

I think with things like that you have to be certain about it. I, personally, wouldnt get a name put on me, not even my mum's! Purely because down the line you never know what could happen, even with family.
Could you perhaps get an animal or something that represents that person? His starsign or something? Depending what he is anyway. If it is what you want then go for it!

I would get any tattoos in Chinese/Japanese/any other language checked by a trusted native speaker. My cousins friend got her own name tattooed on her arm in Chinese. When she went to China she was confused why everyone kept asking how long she had been doing kungfu, lol.

Dont get a tattoo done where it cant be covered as can cause problems with future employment (depends what employment obvousily) but i work for a recruitment company and some of our clients will not take on people with visible tattoos as customer facing roles and does not look professional.

I've not really thought about it before but it gave me a really good idea for joint tatts for us, our nick names for each other are 'Bam Bam' and 'Pebbles' (yes as in the Flintstones lol), so I think it'd be really sweet if we each had one of the characters on us, somewhere so that when put together they're holding hands, kissing, looking at each other or something -thank you! :) And its up to you both, remember that tattoos can be removed or designed over, so if anything were to happen you have options xx
CommentAuthorLlosa
I think if you both want to, do it! we are....where was you thinking of putting them? im still trying to decide, i was thinking having his name in teeny letters on my wedding finger....how about that?
CommentAuthorLegoWife
I'm not getting the tattoos on the wedding ring finger thing. If it does all go wrong and you stop wearing your ring you're stuck with a tattoo as well! You won't see it while your married and as a divorcee your ex is stamped on the finger you just freed from a wedding ring.
But that is a very pessimistic view on it lol

I think its a nice idea if you both want to do it. Sounds sore tho!

i love almost all tattoos, but i'm not sure about partners names. instead of getting my fiances name, i got the pendant from the necklace he wears 24/7 tattooed onto the front of the shoulder. i also got two large day of the dead portraits of us (bride and groom) tattooed, one on each thigh. i chose to get them before the wedding i could have them on the day, and so they'd have time to heal before our honeymoon :) maybe there is something symbolic you could both get for eachother? i have photos on my profile which are more clear than my descriptions.. x

i personally wouldnt get my ohs name tattooed on me until its our like 25 anniversarie lol i am however getting a tattoo to represent the wedding/our family the day after we come back from honeymonn, booked it yestarday, im getting 3 butterflys on my wrist, our wedding is butterfly themed and 3 off them to represent me, oh and our son :) 2 big ones and a little one :) but each to there own. my brother has his wifes name tattooed across his finger where his ring would go as he doesnt wear his ring due to work reasons x
CommentAuthormichgib
sorry but its not something i would do myself even thought i have been with h2b for 21 years
CommentAuthorShirleygirly
I wouldn't get his name tattooed because you just never know (although I hope it never ends), I would consider getting our wedding date put somewhere. I have a tattoo of a butterfly that is dedicated to him, before he came along I had awful luck with men and life in general. He taught me to love and trust and gives me confidence in my abilities every day so the butterfly symbolises how he gave me the freedom to spread my wings and be me.
I can't wait until 29/06/2013
The day I marry the man of my dreams!

I would never do this; I think it's bad luck. All I can think of is of Johnny Depp's Wino Forever tattoo. I agree that getting a design inspired by your relationship is a much better idea.
CommentAuthorCharlotteB32
My oh hasn't got any tattoos. He says he is getting a dragonfly to represent me when we get married (I have 4 dragonflies tattood in various parts of my body and live them). I am thinking of maybe cherry blossoms and a dragonfly ...
CommentAuthorLinzi-jo
Personally I would never get their name as you never know what is going to happen in the future. I do like the idea of a symbol though, but again, depending on what may happen in the future depends on how you will feel about it in years to come. You could always get them covered over though I suppose if they aren't very big xxx

I'm currently doing a cross stitch for the wedding, featuring two birds sat in a tree. I'm thinking of having the pattern reworked and done on my arm, so that I know it's wedding related, but to other people it's just a pretty design - obviously the birds would be different, so one won't be wearing a veil!

My Ex pinned me down 20 yrs ago (while a was still with him) and tattooed a buterfly on my shoulder against my will and i resently had it removed as it was a periment reminder to me that even though we're not togerther (split up 14th sept 1995) that he still owned me in some way (we get ok tho) and having it gone was total bliss to be free at last (in my mind that is ) i feel completly different so my advice would be to really think it through hard as you could have a perment reminder of him if thing's go wrong in a bad way tatto's are lush in a lot of way's and can mean so much to the wearer good luck choosing the one you want to wear :)
