    Hi ladies,

For those of you doing your own sweetie table, how many jars/different types of sweets have you got?

    Thanks xx

We have 6 all different sizes, we havent picked our sweets yet- we dont trust ourselves with them in the house! We like the old fashioned ones though!

we had 10 different sweets and had 5 normal fish bowls (BnM Bargs) and a large fish bowl and 4 hurricane jars from (Stretch of the £) we had 100 people to the evening reception and we had MORE than enough, in fact we were eating them still at halloween! (only the wrapped ones)

I got 200 bags... we have 150 evening guests but am sure some will be greedy and others less so! Any remainder I will keep for our first baby's christening in the next few years I hope!

I so far have 4 jars but will probably have another 3. I'm going to have one with haribo starmix, one with bon bons and one with something like milk bottles (my fave pick and mix sweet). The other jars have mini love heart rolls, mixed swizzel sweets like palma violets, mini refresher bars, drumstick lollies etc and then another jar has candy bracelet watches and the last one has loveheart lipsticks.

You don't have to have every sweet under the sun... it's just a bit of a gag and focus point. You'll never please everyone as it's probably some obscure sweet for the fussy ones... everyone else just sees it as generic sweets!

Some people I know choose a few jars based on colour.

As it's not a major food source for the night, I'm not going to be "re-stocking" it as it'll be available from 2000-0000 so it's not long and there will be cake and proper evening offd circulating too. Plus people will feel sick!

Some sweety tables can be expensive to hire... I'll have spent about £50 on mine by the time I finish. The most expensive part was the love heart sweets - 130 for £12 in a sweety jar. We live near the haribo factory so I'm going to go to their factory shop to buy a couple of tubs of haribo starmix and milk bottles. The bags were a few quid and came with pre-loved sweet scoops. I'm handmaking my signs after all, all you need is pinterest, microsoft word, a printer and a little bit of computer skill to create some great results. Luckily I'm quite handy with the computer as is my brother so am not short of skill or time between us!

If you're on a budget, just ask for a table at your venue to set it up, covered with a tablecloth, buy some plain or striped sweet bags from the bay (shop around-printed ones are more expensive but you really don't need them- people will just bin them after all!) a few sweet scoops and/or tongs, a few old jars kicking about the house or old vases will suffice.. I'm using an kilner jar that was formerly filled with amaretti biscuits from a christmas gift as one jar, but I got a few cheap jars from a shop with 4 letters beginning with A and with the other letters SDA following it!

10-12 jars fpr 100 people depending on the size of the jars. I always measure out on average 150g+ per person as you will find some will hardly touch them yet others will take 2-3 bags of sweets home with them "for the kids" lol supermarkets do the cookie jars for around £1.20 and the kilner style jars for about £1.50 also check charity shops and also b&m's have the fish bowls for £2.99 and the glass jars with the bobbly glass lids for roughly the same price xx

I'm using Jars as there going to be favours for everyone to take home at the end of the day. I've used a variety of jars, from ones with sauces in for pasta ect, mint sauce jars, baby food jars, and in the £1 Shop you can get a set of 5 jam jar covers or just cut up your own coloured material to match your colours on the day. I've added twine as i like the effect, and added the Alice inspired "Eat Me" tags as we're going for a Mad Vintage Tea Party feel :D I made them from good ol' toilet tube cardboard and teabag stained paper cut up, and used sellotape over it to stop any water that may smudge the writing. I need to do around 65 jars in total. For some reason it's playing up for me today so i can't insert my pictures but i'll put them in my folders if you want to be nosey :D

Oooo it's fun isn't it! I picked up a good Wedding Magazine today and it was a DIY special and there's a few things about Vintage Tea Partys, i got it from Morrisons £2.99, full of great ideas :) I've started collecting random cups and saucers as well, and a couple of teapots, i'm panning to have flowers coming out of the teapots and sweeties in the cups! For some reason it's letting me upload into my albums but not on posts :/ i am a power user, is there a limit of how many images you can put up in a day?

I also have the water gel balls in glass vases of all shapes and size with over flowing ivy and white roses and gerberas to add colour and an extra bit of madness! I'm gone a bit DIY mad atm, and have done my own Wish Tree & just started my own foam white roses topiary, which i'm going to splash red on, as in "Painting The Roses Red" :) Plastic is a good idea for the kiddies. We're having children as well, but will use the baby food jars, as smaller for them :)

I bought 2 sets of 6 victorian style ( but plastic) jars from @m@zon. Also had a few tubs from 99p shops and a couple of glass bowls.
I bought sweets wholesale online - which worked out really cheap but most sold in 3kg bags so I had mountains of sweets.(Spent £140)
My nephew (age 11) was on refill duty for the evening and he loved his job. There were people at the table picking sweets most all of the evening. Most popular sweet by far was Jazzies (chocolate buttons with hundreds and thousands on them)
