if anybody remembers "bride on the run last year",a friend of mine entered a competition ,she lost because the wining bride cheated,as a result she had offers flooding in to give her everything for her wedding, they got married in december and my god it was amazing,,this however is a different story, and im sorry but i think its wrong,by your own admition your wanting a free wedding and yet you work and in theory could pay like the rest of us.im sorry but i personally think what your doing is money grabbing

tiggs.... the fact she could afford it but chose not to pay for it is clearly wrong. I have now read the article and I am disgusted to be honest. In my opinion, if you are not willing to pay for it you really do not deserve it. Sorry but I do feel strongly about that..... and you can hardly call PR for those companies work! This devalues what a wedding is about and really commercialises it.

Tinsel, I didnt see the newspaper artical. But if you lived in her area, and noticed that so and so was doing her flowers, would that make you book them for her wedding? i doubt it.

and as for the photographer and videographer, the product of their work isnt seen until weeks after, so how are people going to see if they are quality or not enough to want to book them without shopping about first?

Whilst I personally do not agree and wouldn't have this at my wedding, I don't see the problem.

I am paying for my wedding; no parents, no in-laws, no grandparents, no-one else. BUT this doesn't mean my wedding is anymore 'right' than BOB's.

Do I have the right to feel superior to those B2Bs who are getting help from family, parents, in-laws, grandparents? No. Do I have the right to feel superior to those B2Bs on the dole who are using my hard-earned taxes to pay for their weddings? No. Do I have the right to feel superior to BOB because she asked for sponsorship to pay for her wedding? No.

Good on her for getting so many to agree - I wouldn't do it, but I don't think it is a problem.

Good question, Linzi. If the flowers were amazing and in budget, I might. Better than looking at pictures, which might not even belong to the florist showing you their portfolio.

Oh I am not knocking her at all, like i said she must be some salewoman and good on her for using her talents.

all I am saying is that i just dont get what all of the suppliers are gonna get out of it, apart from being connected to a wedding which for a lot of people is seen as bad taste or not right or whatever else other people on here have been calling it.......

I just wanted to let everyone know that I NEVER SAID WE COULD AFFORD. What I actually said was it was ambitious to assume we could afford it. Also the paper said they were going to list all my sponsors names, we did a photoshoot with us and all our sponsors but they decided to not use those photos. In response to a question asked if this was a way to promote my own business then the answer is no, as I never told of my own company name. Another question is are we in the UK, Yes we are.

the article clearly states you said you could afford it '"I couldn't believe it when I added up all the costs - although we could afford to spend £20,000, it seemed a lot of money for one day". I just feel sorry for the other brides that worked hard for their big days! Yes some may have needed a small push through sponsorship but didnt expect a big wedding and not pay hardly a penny towards it. I am sorry but I cant agree with that. Theres no hard work and no pride in this!

I agree, Lisa. If it's what you are happy to do, go for it.

What about the couples on Four Wedding who spend £20-30k on their wedding and then try to win their honeymoon? Is that unfair? It's all subjective. Your wedding, your way!

But so what? It's her wedding and her choice. If she can afford to pay, but chooses to get sponsorship, it doesn't matter. It just shows she is savvy. I totally disagree with the commercialisation of a wedding, which is what this is, but in 2011, it's just the next step. Look at Christmas and Easter and Mother's Day and Valentine's Day - all totally 'commericialised', but we still celebrate them.

Perhaps - you get a gift in exchange for the invite - technically, that's a payment for a 'ticket'.

I don't mind her getting what she wants for almost free; if it was her rich, wealthy father paying for the wedding I don't think you would be as derogatory. She is shrewd and doesn't make her wedding any less special TO HER, which is what matters.

Again, I wouldn't do it, but good luck to her.

BOB, where in the UK are you?
