Everyone wishes for a different wedding but I'm dreaming of a small (less than 50 people) garden wedding :) Can you tell me any negatives and positives? :-)

I think it's great if that is what you want. My friend had it, she had a gorgeous dress and flowers in her hair that looked all hippyfied, really suited her style.

I would LOVE this, if I could ever find the perfect space (sadly not my garden). I guess space for guests and practicality of getting tables etc out for reception if you're staying there, cover for inclement weather, entertainment space, etc. Also if you are having a registrar out it'll take more organising. I say if you want to, go for it! I've been to some lovely dos outside.

The big one - the weather! It's something you can't control. We went to one in August on the south coast and it pee'd it down, they did have a marquee set up for the nighttime but everyone ended up in there milling about straight after the ceromony. Didn't spoil the day though.

I think as long as there is somewhere to go in case the weather lets rip, it'd be lovely :)

The advantages, I think, are that it would probably feel more informal, you might get more freedom with what food/drinks/entertainment you can have.

Also, (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) it's difficult to get an actual ceromony outdoors (not sure if that's what you were thinking?) as they have to have a special license xx

Sounds lovely and intimate, I'd say go for it! Just be mindful of weather issues, are you having caterers in or getting family to help out? x

I love it! I would totally be doing that if we knew someone with a big enough garden!

The weather is a huge factor obviously, but as long as you have a marquee and are prepared then it should be fine. I'd also bear in mind things like tables, chairs, toilets etc.

If you do want heels, there's some clear things you can buy that slip onto the bottom of your heel & the bottom is round so you won't sink ;) I'm not sure where you can get them from though .. g00gle may help ;) xx

I think I've seen something like that, a bit like when you put those bits on the sofa feet to save leaving indents in the carpet.

it is illegal to get married outside in England as the law states that the wedding has to take place in a permanent structure which has been licensed for conducting marriages.

We would get married in the local parish, only the "party" would be in the backgarden :-)

I agree about the toilet situation, power is a big thing too...caterers etc. Marquees are a blimmin rip off too, the minute they hear the word 'wedding' the price suddenly shoots up.

BUT I really wish I was having a small enough wedding to do it this way! Just make sure you have plenty of space/chairs :)

We are having are marquee :) Im lucky tho because its 14 adults and 5 kids. The kids will have a seperate part on the grass so its only 14 to fit under the marquee. I dont have to have such a big one then :)

How big is the garden you was thinking of? x x x
