    Hiya!
I need some advice on some really good skincare products. I am 26 and never had any problems with my skin whatsoever until i was about 18. no spots at all while i was a teenager!! I now get really big and quite painful spots that last for ages and are impossible to cover up. I usually have at least one or two on the go at any one time and as soon as they finally clear up, up pops another one!!!!!
I wear make up pretty much everyday for work but i always make sure i take it off as soon as i get in! I've tried lots of combinations of brands of facewipes. cleansers, daily scrubs and moisturisers and nothing seems to work!! I would love lovely clear skin for my wedding and well all the time would b lovely too!! Any ideas on some really good quality stuff? Don't really care if it's expensive it's worth a try now! Any success stories? xx

hi, I used to get really bad spots to but also dry skin? go figure?! I went and spoke to a lady on a counter in a department store and she did a full assessment of my skin and recommended a 3 step programme (was mortified at the time as she took all my makeup off in the middle of the shop!) not sure if im allowed to say the company but it begins with c, and ends in ique!

I suffered since being 11 now im 22 and its only the past few weeks they are cleared I had the works spots, blackheads redness, realy dry skin and realy oily tzone, I came across a few sites recomending using asprin and honey or asprin and aloe vera and it realy does work, it says something about some silic acid thingy which suposably is found in expensive skincare products (and asprin) google it and see what you think x

Had a look at some of the aspirin ideas, i've never heard of that before! I'll definitely try it, it has the added bonus of being cheap! I think a department store visit may also b a good idea though. Thanks girls ;-)

have you tried the freederm type creams to get rid of the spots you have got? that along with a good skincare routine should see you ok. I would defo recomment going to a salon or beauty counter for advise, but remember they will also be trying to sell you stuff! (you can always buy what they advise cheaper online)

i swear by Decleor. Its amazing and although expensive the bottles last for ages.

I've got a skin condition called hydrenitis supperativa (infected pores) It comes from within and other factors such as not washing off make up and not scrubbing etc don't cause it. Apparently Aspirin face scrub is certainly safe and there are good reasons why it may well work - many antiseptic creams contain salycillic acid which doesn't appear to have anti bacterial properties (germolene for instance). as well as this aspirin is a good anti inflammatory - by decreasing the local inflammation (your body's immune cells migrate to an area and release chemicals to fight infection) there is less swelling and potentially less scarring. I don't have a spot at the moment but i'll try it next time. xx

You could go and see your GP, he/she could prescribe something that will help maybe antibiotics such as tetracyline or cream or lotion. I used to suffer with acne till my doctor put me on Dianette (contraceptive pill) this was very effective for me and made my skin clear but everyone is individual but your gp will know what will help.

I started getting spots last year at 30!! Never ever had a problem before. I bought the Clean and Clear Spot care pack which consists of a scrub, moisturiser and a blemish repair stick. I have been through them all and this is the only one that has cleaned my face completley - you have to make sure you use it twice a day but it works and only cost £13 for the whole pack from B oots.

Would really be interested in how the Asprin scrub went too x

Me too - I'm 28 and have suffered with spots since I was 11 - as you can imagine I have tried SO many things, including prescribed antibiotics. I've found the only thing that really works for me is Quinoderm cream. I also use a peeling cream and sea sand scrub 2-3 times a week and that seems to help, as does limiting my consumption of crisps and alcohol as far as possible and drinking lots of water.

I recently have been getting horrible spots all around my chin - I think its wedding stress!!! I was recently recommended to use E-l-e-m-i-s SOS Emergency Cream and I have to say it has worked wonders!! After using it the first night my spots weren't so 'angry' and calmed right down. By day 2 they had dried up! Its recommended to use day and night only on the affected areas until they clear up then go back to using your normal moisturiser. It is a bit pricey but def worked for me xx

Annoyingly I hardly ever get spots but a big yin has popped up on my chin in the last few days. I am usually terrible for overdoing it (as in trying to squeeze them or putting loads of different creams) But Ive been on my best behaviour and it seems to be working. H2B has this spot cream (he is a baldy and gets the odd massive spot on his head), I **think** its called fubocream or something along those lines. I use soap and glory 3 in 1 daily fash wash and then a bit of this cream and its really calmed down. I think its a perscription cream but dont think its difficult to get.

I used to get some but since meeting my H2B I don't wear much make-up now only mascara and I only get a spot or two if i am stressed or ill. I would suggest laying off the make-up for a bit. x

While on the pill my skin is pretty clear but due to a lot of stress recently I was getting the same hideous spots you describe laurabrown, 2 and 3 at a time, it became unbearable and I was scared the scars would be there for the wedding as its so close now. I went to the doctors and got this thing called zineryt, its a liquid you dab on the affected area. I've been using it for about 3 weeks now and it's worked wonders, not had one of those spots since. I would def recommend going to your gp and enquiring about it.

I went to the doctors with my spots as i thought they were hideous! They gave me an antibiotic roll on, which is brilliant. I now have clear skin. I have had it for 3 months and i can say it was the best thing i have ever used :)

I don't get many spots now, just the odd one or 2 on my chin, but when they do come up they are huge! Typically I had 2 on my wedding day :( I was upset about it but not much you can do, thats even after a week of being good and putting spot cream on and not squeezing or picking. The make-up lady was brilliant tho and covered them well, even tho I knew they were still there and could still see them. If the worst comes to the worst the photographer said he can photoshop them out of the pics and no-one will know there were there! So far on the pics that guests have put on the book of face even I can't really see them, so a happy bunny!

I'd recommend getting a full facial. i had an offer for one the other week which included a skin scan too! I was also using the 3 step programme by C.. but this never really got rid of the problem. When I had my scan, they found underneath the skin is very sensitive, so although my skin is oily/dry combination, underneath its actually really sensitive. The c stuff (and the majority of things in shops), contain alcohol and other chemicals which when you have sensitive skin do more damage than good. the alcohol rips all the natural oils from your skin hence the skin becoming dry! If you can find a deal for a scan I'd def go for it. they can then recommend u the right products for your skin type. They also look at sun damage and aging! xx

I have been the same since I was about 12. I was constantly at the doctors begging them. I tried all sorts of creams and a roll on deodorant type thing for your face. I found the only time they started to clear was when I went on the pill at 18. It was called dianette and it cleared my skin loads. Im 27 now and I'm on a contraceptive pill called Yasmin which is also for spots. I still suffer with them but compared to what they used to be the difference is amazing. I still need to find something to cover them properly for the wedding though as I know I will probably break out round my mouth right before the day!!

Got my enagement shoot on Thursday so hope they go down enough for me to be relaxed and don't show on the pics! at least I know I'm not alone, there are a lot of us with the same worry...and stress does not help

If I have a really bad spot I put a little bit of hydrocortisone cream on it and it tends to clear pretty fast. I've also started using maybeline's BB instead of foundation and my skin feels so much better and has been much clearer since xxx

it was really interesting Kelly. I have never been partic great with skincare regimes etc (mum was not one to be that bothered with it!), so never really knew what to use. the company that did my facial gave me a big long list of chemicals which can be found in cleansers/toners and lotions and wwhat each one would do to your skin.. it was really helpful! the stuff they recommended was HUGELY expensive, but you only use tiny amounts (like pea size) so it lasts ages. I figured I'd invest in it, and over the last week my skins vastly improved! xx

I'm afraid I have no clue. It was advertised as a facial with skin scan. I'll try and find the print out and see if it is on there. I just signed up to the local spa email newsletter and it came through on there.. I'll have a look and see! xx

I'm reading all this and thinking I might need to look into this asprin wash stuff. I get the odd one around time of the month but apart from that I'm blessed but my baby sister suffers terribly and is already on the pill, that is calming them down but nowhere near clear.

I had a facial for my 21st and they told me I have slightly oily skin (which I knew anyway) and made me buy some £45 set for it that brought me out in terrible spots, stopped using it and gone back to my face wipes and moisturiser and am spot free again.

I tried the aspri scrub last night, my face feels lovely, followed it up with goats milk night cream :)
To make scrub take 4 uncoated asprin tablets (purchased from supermarket) add a tiny bit of water and crush them in your hand.
I was going to do face mask but I think for this the honey is needed to stick it together -treat for next week maybe.
