Sorry guys sure its been asked before but I did have a scan through!!
First question is about setting a RSVP date...how far before the wedding do you ask for an RSVP?
Second question...do you send out the evening invites at the same time as the daytime invites?
Third question...if someone declines from the day list, how do you then tell someone only invited to the evening they can come to the daytime???!!! Awkward conversation??? lol...we have set numbers for day/evening in our package so I have got people on the evening that I would love to have in the day we just cannot afford it!
Thanks for your help! xx

We sent the day invites about four mounths before, and the evening ones two months before.
That way, if we had 'nos' to the day do, we could bump up evening guests without them knowing that they wouldn't come originally. I did the rsvps for the day to come back around the time the evening invites were going out...but I would Deffo recommend doing the RSVP date a good couple of weeks before you NEED it as some people are awful at RSVP - ing and will need to be chased xx

yeah i really like that idea, as have plenty of people who i would love to invite but cannot due to budget, for if people say no can bump them without them feeling like they are not as good

We're sending all our invites out together but the day invites have a RSVP date of 14th June 2014 for a sept 13th 2014 wedding, the evening invites will have an RSVP date of about a month before x

Oh that's such a good idea Laurajo!! My only worry would be that if any of the day guests ask the evening guests if they have had their invite! But then an evening guest assuming they were "bumped up" to me actually telling them they have been is probably a little better!! Hopefully none of the day guests will say no lol :)
Thanks kelbel, what would you do about changing evening guests to day guests or would you not do that?
It's insane all the little details you have to think about isn't it! I'm so thankful for these forums lol :)

We sent out evening invitations out approximately 2 months before the wedding and all day invitations 3 months before. All those invited to the evening we didn't want to bump up and even with the small handful of people who said that they couldn't come we still were slightly over our budgeted numbers Ooops!
Laura Jo's suggestion is good though, that's what I would have done if any of the evening guests were bumpable, it's difficult when all the evening guests know each other and are part of a big group, bump up one you have to bump up all of them xxx

Hi everyone....old thread Im renewing with ANOTHER question about RSVPs lol, how long after sending the invites do you expect to get an RSVP by....for example, If I send out the day invites at the start of Jan (reluctant to send Nov/Dec as some may get discarded with all the Christmas cards and forgotten about!!) is it too little time to ask for RSVP by mid Feb, giving them about 6 weeks?? xx
CommentAuthorBeckyU98
i think thats plenty of time. in my opinion the longer you leave them the more they will put off replying x

Our RSVP date is 2 months before the wedding.. We'll be sending our day and night at same time cause even if someone declines the day, no one from the night will be bumped up.. But if I were you I'd send your day out 5 months before and night 3 months before, that's plenty of time to sort any rearranging xxx

We get married Sunday 25th May 2014 and are planning to send our day invites out November, most probably mid to late November this will be 6 months before our day. The reason for this is because its a Bank Holiday and the start of a half term and as I work in a school and are planning to invite people that also work in a school so want to give plenty of notice (despite sending Save The Dates). Also by sending them then, people may choose to put their RSVP card responses in a Christmas card to us perhaps? We are planning to send our evening invites out around a month maybe 2 months later and as has been said, we should have some day responses back by then and therefore of we feel necessary can bump any evening guests up to a day depending on responses.
In terms of the RSVP date I think it all depends on how organised you want to be and any time restrictions you have in terms of your venue. Both our day and evening RSVP dates are in March - 12 weeks before our wedding date so we can chase people for responses which includes their choices for the wedding breakfast if they are a day guest. Plus we have a meeting at the end of March and a meeting in April for details and numbers so we want to be as prepared as poss for these.

I only had one do so all sent out at the same time. I asked for a RSVP date for the middle of July, (we got married 6 October) so that I had plenty of time to give numbers to the venue.
I would say put the day time ones out with a RSVP, whether this is quite some time before the wedding, that way you can alter anyone on the evening list before they get sent out.
