I have bought some blank place name cards which measure 9cm (width) by 11cm (length) when flat and not folded. Has anyone here printed onto this size card?! I've managed to change a template I use at work for place cards into the right dimensions but can't print them on my work printer. Has anyone managed to print this size before on their printers at home!? Any advice would be much appreciated! xxx

I was wondering about this earlier whilst making my evening invitations.I am going to try printing the names out on good quality paper (all the names on one A4 sheet) and then i will carefully cut them out and stick them on to the place name cards.I don't know how it will look but its the only way i can think of at the moment! xxx

It's soooo annoying eh ladies!! I've bought pearlised baby pink card to match the invitations that I made and really want to be able to print on them and not have to write on them!
I bought nice stickers from my local craft shop to use. They were only 79p a sheet with 5 of each letter.
That might be easier?

You may have a lot of trouble printing on that size, if you can print on it at all. You would be far better to buy printing card in the style of your invites whether it be hammered card etc (i have done this professionally before) and then cutting precisely with a guillotine to the required size.
You can even mark out with lines on the a4 card where you need to cut, depending on the package software you use. I use photoshop and microsoft office

Any other idea's peeps? Now going to attempt to print straight on, worried the card is too small and the printer will eat it!

had this proble mwith rsvp cards and need to buy bigger card and cut it. Alternatvely you could buy some clear sticky labels, print on those adn stick that on the place cards (think this is what I will do). I got very annoyed with my work printer when I realised I couldn't print on something so small!

I would just print them onto paper, maybe make a fancy coloured boarder out of card so it's not just white paper on white card.

hi yeah I printed mine off at home had to change the page size on word custom it to the size I wanted took a couple practice goes but they came out fine

go page layout, then size, then more paper sizes then put in your measurements oh and make sure that the orientation is landscape the only problem I had was the printer not taking the card in first go but if you separate them first it worked better good luck, hope this helps

One success so far with getting the words on the card now just have to get it in the right place!

i've printed out place cards but it was from a pre-programmed template which had 8 place cards per a4 sheet of paper there should be a program on ur printer settings that changes the size and i would recommend changing it to the size of mail address labels then try printing on blank paper so not to waste your place cards if not then try going into publisher and draw your own boxes at that size then temporarily stick your place cards onto a4 paper and put it through the printer and see if that works.

Oh I centred mine too, its worth it in the end just annoying trying to get the names in the right place

Well I've done 2 lol.
Every time I've googled it I have came up with using a template as you say Star.
The way that is working for me atm is to put through on A4 then position the card on top.
Still can't always get the card to go through tho. Contemplating attaching a little bit of blu tack to keep it in position, what do you think too risky? I've only had my printer a couple of weeks don't fancy killing it just yet!

I've taken the plunge! Wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't try the blu tack and it's worked a treat, number 3 done :-).
I haven't had to change any page layout settings apart from the orientation which I have changed to landscape.
I only have flat cards tho. Ah excellent!

Kath - did you just stick one place card on the sheet of A4 when you printed? I'm worried it will get jammed! x

Madison - what printer do you have if you don't mind me asking?! Also what size were your cards when they were flat? They look beautiful! I've managed to change the settings in word to the size of my cards but the problem now is getting a printer that will print that small! xx
