This is a really interesting post. I was very surprised that so few a percentage are getting married in register offices. i had a church wedding first time round, but I have personally become disillusioned with religion and so i was happy that my h2b suggested a register office.

Mrs Midgley - yes we'll have the whole day there. Depending on budget we might be able to hire a marquee for the garden but if not then we'll be in the same room all day - ceremony, then outside in the garden having some pimms and do photos and in the meantime the staff turns the room around for the meal (bms will help decorate tables) and after meal (which will not be a stiff sit down affair) and speeches and stuff the room will be again turned round for party.
But I'd love to have a marquee.

I voted something different.
We are getting married in a public garden by the beach!
Hotel for us. Our venue is the grade II listed country house which the modern hotel is attached to, we wanted a gorgeous room to have the ceremony in, but quite wanted it in a hotel to minimise moving around, this way we can stay in the hotel both nights, and our travelling guests can just head upstairs afterwards without having to worry about getting to a hotel.

We got married in one of the wedding rooms at The Blacksmiths at Gretna Green - then had the reception down the road at one of the hotels.

we getting married at the local church that my OH's brother and sister in law, mum and dad, grandma and grandad, uncle and aunty etc all go tmarried. I don't have a connection to a church and neither of us are religious, i used to be when i was younger and sang in a local choir and everything but the local registrar prices and room hire for the ceremony were ridiculous! church was the cheaper alternative

We are getting married in a Hotel just down the road from where we live. Its easily accessible to all family and friends (close to motorway and a short taxi ride from train station). And its absolutely gorgeous!
