can I ask what everybody is doing for their pew ends? My ceremony is going to be in a church and we're trying to reign things in a little bit with the cost of everything. Yesterday I saw in a magazine somebody who had decorated some large white wicker hearts and had entwined a flower through them. I thought this was a great idea, but wasn't sure if it might look a bit naff?
If we used real flowers, the cost is going to escalate. Here is what I am thinking ....

We got married in a church but didn't bother with pew ends, didn't feel they were needed and saved us a fair bit of cash.

I'm with InD, we had a cathedral ceremony and the ladies there do the flowers weekly anyway (not pew ends) and the natural beauty of the place plus some flowers here and there were all it needed so we didn't bother!

The hearts look great, we are just having a small bunch of gypsophilia tied at the end of each row of chairs xx

I think the heart looks great with the flower. We aren't having anything in the church as I love our church just the way it is. It's only a small church and has got so much character x

We did have pew ends but we kept them simple. We had ribbons in the right colours tied in a bow with a single flower in it. The ribbons alone would be fine if you are cost cutting.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I like the heart idea. MIL keeps going on about church flowers but the question I asked was how many people remember them? So we aren't spending loads. I love lillies so I said I might buy a bunch or two from t3sco the week of the wedding to give them time to open up and then just tie a ribbon round each stem and the ushers can hang them over the pew ends in the morning. Those wicker hearts are lovely.
We are getting married in a church but they have chairs rather than traditional pews, so no pew ends for us. I think it's a great, potentially cheap way to add your own touch to the church and have a bit of your reception theme involved in the ceremony.

Thanks ladies - I love the hearts too, so think I'll be going with these. Off to the National Wedding Show in London on 25 Sept - so looking forward to it - so hoping to source plenty of ideas for inspiration there.

We have decided to do every other row, cuts down on costs a bit. I think the hearts are really different. Hope you found lots of inspiration at the show, unfortunately I couldn't go!

Yes we're also going to do every other pew. Went to church the other day and our pews are wider than normal.
Show was good, but I just ended up looking at dresses so didn't come away with lots of ideas, I st a dodgy eyebrow make over!!

I had the idea of photos with some hessian ribbon - vintagey - of each of us growing up so my OH one side going from younger to older as you get towards the front and the same for me the other side. When it gets to the point where we met it's be photos of us together. Sadly OH hates the idea lol xxxx

Id like pew ends on every other but not sure what I'd like yet probably go ribbons and the same on our vintage bus
CommentAuthorBecci93
Not sure how we'd attach them to the pews though

Louisey - we are going to adopt the age thing for our table numbers. We are going to have photos of us at aged 2 on table 2, aged 3, table 3. Thankfully OH thinks its a lovely idea and adds a bit of the personal touch. Perhaps you could do this too if OH isn't keen for the aisles? xx

I love the hearts.
I don't think we will worry about pew ends. They are lovely, but I think it will be one of those things that we won't notice on the day. We are paying our church £100 to fill it with flowers in our wedding colours anyway.

We had hanging hearts attached to an organza bow. We did alternate pew ends (one with, one without) which worked quite well. I had asked my Sister to pick them up on her way out of the church after the ceremony but she forgot! MIL had to ask hubby's Uncle (whose treasurer at the church we got married in) to rescue them for us
