    Hi everyone,

We sent our invites out about 3 weeks ago now. We have sent them out early as we have about 15 people who may or may not come. So i wanted to hopefulllly get them out early, get the rsvp's back and then do a round 2 when people have given me a defo yes or no.

The problem is- i cant over invite. We have a small venue and 70 is our max. I have invited 70 and so far we have only had 3 rsvp's!

Why arent people rsvp-ing? What did i do wrong and how do i get them to rsvp without getting annoyed. They do have until 1st May to rsvp but why delay in reply. They can either come or not! Grrrrrr. I am annoyed that after 3 weeks people just arent letting me know! xx

That's the bit I'm not looking forward to, it's tricky as you don't want to pester people, but at the same time - you need replies! You could always drop into a conversation 'oh did you receive our invite, bla bla bla, not heard from you so thought best ask bla bla bla' maybe?

did you have a date to reply by ? if so wait till this has paseed then call/txt/email/fb....etc saying that you will assume that they cannot attend if you dont have a reply and as you have fixed numbers they will be taken off the seating plan so if they show up they wont have a place or a meal

I would wait until the cut off date that you gave them and if they haven't responded get in touch and ask them if they are coming or not as you need to know for numbers. Tell them you need to know now not next week etc so you need a definite yes or no. You can then take it from there.

Im really not looking forward to this part once weve got our wedding plans on the move.
For our engagement party we sent out invites and asked people to rsvp. as we had a guest list on the door (hired out a floor in a night club) and had a buffet so obv they needed to know numbers and i asked people to let me know a mont before the party and i still had to chase people up the week before!!!!!!

People forget ... I waited until the cut off date then about a week after that I sent out an email to the people who hadn't yet rsvp'd ... then a week after that another email and FB messages (now chasing people every other day). We are the same, and wanted to invite more people if we got any No's. Ours were sent out end of Jan with an rsvp date of mid-March, and I still haven't been able to get hold of some of them. It's REALLY annoying!! I'll start phoning next week.

Good grief, I'm not looking forward to this. I'm going mad just getting the invites ordered, let alone sending it out and waiting for RSVPs.
I would definitely start chasing them up- just contact them under the pretense of checking that their invites had been received (everyone's paranoid about the mail these days, right?)

Then i will pester by the 1st May if i havent heard.

I have a reserve list of people-to be totally honest, i would rather the reserve list come than those we invited-but its family-and i had to invite them! Grrrr.xxx

I pretty much gathered RSVPs from my friends before the invitations were ordered (aargh *tears hair out*- for another thread another time), I don't see any shame in getting RSVPs as early as possible.
They don't even have to send a formal RSVP immediately- when one of my old friends got married last year, I told her on the phone that the h2b and I would be there within days and sent a formal acceptance a few weeks later.

I would certainly be rescinding any invitations that haven't been RSVP'd on time. I did that with the hen night too- if anyone couldn't be bothered to reply, then they were no longer invited.

my cut off date is today and still havnt had some back. we have been told by people that they are coming but want the rsvp cards so that i dont forget anyone and over invite more people! i put it on facebook that if i dont get rsvps's by today then i will assume your not coming but only had 2 more back this week. i had my cousin decline on facebook but i knew she wouldnt come anyway as she lives in florida so it is too far. I have had 57 confirmed but still another 14 that havnt replied and i asked for them back today. so annoyed!

i would wait till cut off date and then chase people up. I chased up one friend for the rsvp card as he had already told me he was coming and h had a go at me saying wait until the date that is on the invite!xx

Welcome to my world! Had to chase so many people up I was getting thoroughly depressed about it. Cut off date was a week ago for the evening invites and still havent heard from about 12 couples. Had email yesterday saying about 10 people werent coming (one of my work places), the secretary had to chase people up for me because no one was replying and I was on annual leave when cut off day happened. Thats it now, if anyone else says they are coming, they cant!

I'd just wait till your date has passed hun really. Some people do just leave things till the last min. I know I'm terrible for it. Also, there are a lot of people who work weekends now, so some must just want to make sure that the have the time off sorted.

When our invites go out I'm not going to bother chasing people, if they can't be bothered to RSVP by the date on the invite then they're not worth the effort and I will assume they're not coming, no if's or buts, if you want to come then send the sodding RSVP back!

oh hun I am probably one of the worst for replying to things, I was given an invite to a wedding about 6 weeks ago now and I still haven't sent an rsvp back! Not because I don't know if we will go but simply because I keep forgetting! I saw the invite again this morning and thought I must do something with it!
I am also like you with people not responding, it is annoying but I guess there are loads of people like me out there that have a lousy memory....drop them a line and ask the question, it is pretty doubtful they would be annoyed. xx

i agree with the other girls, wait until the deadline is passed and leave it an additional 3/4 days. Then ring around and explain that the venue needs the numbers ready for your meeting with them shortly. Therefore they cant just turn up on the day as there wont be a seat or meal available and need to confirm or decline within the next three days or you will assume they are not coming

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

I feel the frustration here. I sent my STD's on FB. 2 bridesmaids actually declinded!!!!!!!!

I was hoping to avoid this by having canapes and inviting everyone to the church and reception, but now that has changed, the venue I am loking at only holds 60, so I will no doubt be ranting and raving about RSVP's.

Maybe people just have a problem with commitment?

is it a good idea to keep a short window for the rsvp date so people dont forget about them? I dont know how early you guys sent yours and mines ages away but after reading these I am pooing it a little as we do need minimum numbers. All I can think of is to keep a short window for reply and verbally stress the importance of having them back by that date,

We have done the same as you, as we are getting married at Xmas many people go away and the venue is on at us about numbers - they want to hold a Xmas party in the next room. So we sent them put early with te intention of bumping people up is people don't come. People are being really unhelpful te RSVP date was end of march so we had time to decide who else to invite but we are still waiting for a third of people to reply. When they have been contacted they just say oh yeh we are coming, they can't seem to understand we need RSVPs in writing so when we come to do table plans we dot miss anyone off. It's so so annoying as I now don't know how many people have sai yes and they can't be bumped up :(
