I'm looking for some ideas for our party, I'm not sure what order to do speeches, first dance, cutting cake etc. also at what stage of the night to do them.
What would/did you do?
Thanks in advance

Hi hun, I am not sure there is any hard and fast rule for the order in which they're done but I think traditionally (and they order in which we're doing ours) is meal/food, speeches & toasts, cutting cake then first dance when the evening guests turn up around 7:30pm ish.

hey we thought the same but decided that we just want to PARTY.... so we will have the cake on display till halfway thru the night in which then it will just be taken away to cut and then serve. were not doing the speeches just a short thank you speech and we will do our first dance once most people have arrived to get the party going (our dj is very good and knows when to time this). we just thought by recreating thoses elements like a wedding day could make the party a bit stagger and forced we will be having all the photos from the day being projected onto a big screen thoughtout the night. this is just our opinion however and our ideas... which ever you choose to do is special to you.

hey lisa
we're having a blessing a week and a half after we get back from cyprus. it was just goingt o be a party, but one of our great pals is going to 'marry' us!!
i'm going to get an arch for us to get married under. i'm walking in to 'sexy and i know it', having our first dance there (not having one in cyprus), having a giant version of our cyprus cake, speeches, candy buffet, wishing tree, throwing of the bouquet (not mine, a bms. mine is a brooch one lol)
so...it's gonna be a wedding without the legality!!
no sit down meal, just a buffet. 180 people partying hard!! woohoo!!
the entire wedding party in cyprus is 14 people (including us), so it's a very intimate day, with a sit down meal. nice and relaxed etc.
edit: srry didn't read your original post properly. i thought you were looking for ideas
we will have the ceremony first, then straight to our first dance i think. after 20min or so of dancing, speeches. 20-30min of more dancing then stop to cut the cake and tell people the buffet is open. once i am a lil' tipsy, bouquet throw lol then, non stop partying!!!! well....until the night ends lol
I'M MARRIED!!!
