I've had quite a successful day on money saving. Switched our gas and electric and we will save £100 a year plus I ordered through a certain site and got £70 cash back. My dogs pet insurance was up for renewal so found a better quote for £75 less and also got £60 cash back! Switched our phone and broadband package and will save £156 over the year! So just from those 3 things I have saved/made us £461 over the year! Straight in the wedding fund! This weekend I'm going to sort out our spare room and put all the crap in there on the bay to see if I can make some pennies that way too! Rob says I'm the tightest person on the planet but I always say if it wasn't for me we'd never have any money so he should be glad!
Been looking at wedding rings today. Rob works in an industrial job so he wants something hard wearing like titanium which suits me as they cost sooooo much less. I'm going to have silver because that's the same as my engagement ring and again so much cheaper than gold. I've seen a couple I like on a high street jewellers website so might drag Rob down there on Saturday to try some on.

I think it's best to send them early, that way people can save up or will keep an eye out for cheap deals. Mine will be going out as soon as they get here.
Not done much wedding stuff the last few days. I have emailed some bridal shops to ask if they have anything in my budget so I might make some appointments in the next couple of weeks.
The one thing that has happened is it looks like we will be a party of 21. The package I'm going for covers 20 so I was panicking that the price was going to rocket. Emailed my planner today and an extra person will set me back the grand total of........ £57 euros! Bargain! Very happy as it means I can now definitely invite my cousin without worrying about it.

Tegan Seems like your doing very well with your planning, i am managed to do as much as i can for the moment, i am trying not to contact too many people in Cyprus to do with the wedding as the hotel wedding co said you have ages yet!! Some small excitement today. Our invitations tipped up last night so I spent the evening addressing them and putting in the information sheet that I created and this morning on the way to work I have delivered the local ones and posted the ones to those further afield. I really hope people are quick to RSVP then I can really start deciding on things that I want to do etc.
I'm the same Gemma, I keep emailing our planner asking questions and she keeps telling me that we don't need to think about that yet! I understand she probably has other brides who's weddings are much closer but I'm just so excited!! I've booked an appointment next Saturday to go to my first bridal shop to look for dresses. I emailed the lady and made it very clear what I was looking for (floaty, light, will fit in a suitcase) and what my maximum budget was and she said they have quite a few dresses that should be suitable so you never know I might find my dress soon! Well done on paying off your balance that must feel like such an achievement and weight off your shoulders!

Gemma those 14 months will fly by! It's 11 months for me now so just think once I'm married you will only have 3 months to go! Eeeek! Hope you're feeling a bit better today, just think being all sorted now means so much less stress as you get closer.
Tomorrow is a big day for me, off wedding dress shopping. Got two appointments and really hoping to find something. Only got a budget of £400 but both places say they have suitable dresses in that range so you never know by this time tomorrow I might have my dress!
Last night we went over to our BM and MOH's house for dinner and had a really good wedding chat. The boys seemed to focus mostly on the stag do but they did come up with some ideas of what they are going to wear on the day so at least they got some actual wedding stuff organised. I was asked by the BM what the rules were for the stag do and I told him they can do whatever they like as long as Rob doesn't come back with a criminal record, broken leg or tattoo on his face (tattoos elsewhere I don't mind!)! BM is keeping everything a secret from Rob so it will be a big surprise for him and it sounds like it is going to be absolutely epic, the movie The Hangover springs to mind!

Well ladies I did it! I found my gorgeous dress!
First shop we went in were useless. Just pointed at the sale rail and then left us to it, considering I hd booked an appointment I was not happy. Second place was amazing, down in Buckfastleigh right next to the river in a beautiful massive studio. The lady sat chatting with us for ages getting an idea of what I wanted. Then we went round and she picked some out she thought would be good and let me choose some too. The first one I tried on was lovely but far too short, the second one was AMAZING! Absolutely not what I thoought I would have wanted but I loved it the minute I saw it. I kept it on for about 20 mins before the lady said we should try the other ones as well!. Whilst I was trying on all the dresses the shop assistants let my MOH's daughter try on the flower girl dresses even though they knew we wouldn't be buying one. She loved getting involved and dressing up like a princess.
After I had tried them all on I went back to the second one and I was 100% sure. Held my breath as the lady explained it was a Romantica dress which normally retails for 1200 but as it is an ex sample she would sell it for............ £225!!!! Bargain of the century, to say I ripped her arm off is an underestimate. It needs a bit of altering which the seamstress who was there said should be about £75 and the include a spot clean, press and making sure all the beading is right in the sale price.
There is one photo in my album if you want to have a look. i'm so over the moon, I thought getting a dress for under £400 was going to be hard but today was just amazing, the lady was so helpful and genuinely interested in my wedding. To top it all off she has a wedding show at the end of September and asked me if I would model for her and she asked my MOH' daughter if she would model the flower girl dresses! If any south west brides want to know the place let me know as I can't recommend them enough!

Here is whats happened!!
Right where do i start?! My dream wedding has become in to the biggest nighmare, it looked loved on the photos on Thomas cook, so i am friends with the company on FB and they had there first wedding there and some pictures were put up and nothing like the Tc book. I am gutted, looked at another hotel that looked amazing, but the issue was that i have to be staying there for 7 night, so i enquired and it would be £800 to stay there plus another £200 to hire gazebo, then £500 to hire there reception venue, this is all without any reception food or drink. We cant possible do this as much as i want to i think it will be silly to pay all this when the actual ceremony only lasts 7 mins! But i would be happy to pay this so my photos look good!!! The food price is 55 per head and thats without drink. As they wont let you take your evening reception else where if they would all my problems would be solved.
So now i have been in contact with a company that come and decorate my other venue if i want for a fee. But im still not 100% to be honest but i am just thinking about all the others staying at my hotel as they wont be happy if i change. Plus i have already booked my reception at another place and i really want to go there and there food price is only 39 PP.
so thats whats happened!!! I am very stressed!!!!!! xxxx

Oh no! Have you spoken to TC about it? If it was their first wedding there maybe it will get better. My mum went and took some photos of our venue for us and when she sent them to me I thought they looked quite disappointing but she assured me her photos didn't do it justice and the setting was beautiful. Could it be the photographer wasn't the best?
Which hotel is it you are booked into? I have some contacts in Cyprus so may be able to get some more info for you. I would speak to TC and raise your concerns and ask them to provide recent photos and assurances that your day will be how you want. You've got the advantage of having plenty of time for the hotel to practice on other couples so by the time your doing comes round hopefully everything will be amazing.
Just remember you are paying a lot of money for your wedding and it is your day so make sure TC understand that. I'm sure your guests will understand that if you make any changes it is only so that everyone can have the best day possible.
Now go have a cup of tea, put your feet up and relax. These things always work out in the end. Xxxxx

Thank you for your reply hun, I booked direct with the hotel for the wedding so nothing TC can do, my main thing is the evening reception. I am ok with it all now, It will look lovely when i have it all decorated i am hoping ;-) Ive just been having hassle with the In laws at the mo, i sent a very taim message to her regarding the issue and said if they feel they cant be happy with us maybe they shouldnt come!!

I'm sure it will look fantastic once it's all decorated, there is so much difference a few small touches can make. Hope the in laws don't cause you too much stress, people need to realise that this is your wedding and if they don't want to get on board then they can get stuffed!
I'm good thanks. Having a bit of a manic time at the moment because I had a panic when I couldn't find any of Rob's divorce papers from his previous marriage and I've got myself convinced that he's still married! He says they are definitely somewhere and if he can't find them he will apply to the courts for a replacement. I'm such a worrier though and I just have visions of trying to get a divorce through before we go next year! Why can't boys be more organised with paperwork!?!

I think I've calmed down a bit now. There is no way he is still married, I know his ex wife and she is too organised to have not let it go through. It just sucks that if he can't find the paperwork we will have to pay £60 for a replacement, add that to the £12 we need to pay for copies of our birth certificates as neither of us have them and he is also adopted and changed his name by deed poll so need to find those docs as well and I can bet they are filed in the same place as his divorce papers! Lol!
I'm a bit sad today as I emailed our planner asking her to send through some lists of things so I can start picking stuff out and she said she won't be able to do this until next years season starts which is only 5 months before the wedding! I want to get an idea if what we can organise through them and what I can organise myself. I don't want to leave everything until 5 months before! Had a good natter with my mum though who said there is nothing to stop me looking into suppliers myself and then when the planners come up with their choices comparing them with mine. Think I'll do some pinteresting to get me in the wedding mood.

everything is starting t come together now nd i can honestly say, for the first time, i'm not worried about anything...well about the cyprus part lol
the blessing back home should be brilliant. i am having nothing to do with the buffet. it stresses me out just thinking about it, so gary and his mum and sister are doing it. i've done enough!!
plus, we get back from cyprus on the 19th and h2b has to go away to holland with work from the 6am on th 24th until 10pm on the 28th...our blessing is on the 29th!!! i'm going to be seriously stressed out my box!! i'm worried that he's going to be held up and not make it on time
so...i'm not stressed out at all with the cyprus bit...just the bit at home!!!!!!! need to get as much done as we can for it just now. we've just decided to let the venue to the centre pieces etc. takes so much stress off us.

Tegan : Well my drama ended last night , when Steve's nan had a call from Steve's mum to say she won't be going after what I sent to Steve's sister !! WTF?! Well we are so pleased , she is such a hurtful women , she is never happy for Steve . She said to him a wedding abroad will not be nice is will be the same as every over conveyor belt wedding !!
This all started back in feb when we told them all we are getting married , then they asked us to change the date to suit them !!!
So to be honest I think I have every right what I said in my message , I didn't think it was rude or out of line I just said what needed to after all the sodding about for the last 6 months !
Not long now for you kisy can't wait to here how it all goes :-)

How exciting for you Kisy! I'm am super jealous! Don't fret about the blessing. I'm sure everything will go perfect, the main thing is that your friends and family are there with you to celebrate.
Gemma - You don't need all that drama. If they don't care enough about their son to suck it up and do what makes him happy then they are not worth the effort and you don't want people like that there to put a downer on your day. Tell you what, I'll come instead! lol!
I'm using Ionian Weddings. She says she can't sort it until they have next years prices, thing is I don't care about the prices I just want to see what the options are. Think I'll just make a plan of everything that I would want in an ideal world and then when she sends out what she has to me I can match them up. I'm like you though Gemma want to have everything sorted well in advance.
One bit of good news, I found some paperwork associated with Rob's divorce so I now have the case number, this means I can get a replacement of his decree absolute for only £5. Bargain!
