Stevie Thanks so much for that information. I will research the places you mentioned to see which I prefer.
Can I ask, have any of you went to see the places before you actually got married, like went over on a holiday just to look around it? xo

We stayed in a villa with pool, we found it best for us with kids to have our own space. However most of our guests stayed in hotels and out of them Queens bay and Aqua sol both Coral Bay way were highly recommended. We spent a few days in Coral Bay and if I had my time again I would probably have chosen somewhere in or around Coral Bay as it was lush. xx

Lol Heidi. Ours was 3 weeks yesterday.....seems to me ages ago now for some reason. Since we got back it's just been one huge pull to get the house complete as it's been forgotten about since we bought it last August. Everything was put on hold for the wedding and now its full speed ahead.

Ohh congrats on the dress!
I've got mixed feelings today. Steve and I have decided to postpone our blessing till 2014 so that we can concentrate on getting our home done. Feel a bit sad that we have to wait longer for the blessing, but feel happy to be decorating, buying new stuff and making our home the way we want it. Today has been the most fun up to now. We've bought all new super mario bros bedding, curtains, a huge wall mural poster, light shade, bookcase etc for our lil boys room. He's mario mad so we are going to do it all this weekend while my mum has him for the day.

Hello all...
Just returned back from holiday ....
When I returned I see all the pictures on FB of the hotel referb and looks good but I'm now not 100% keen on the setting but not sure what I can do now ! I was thinking do I still get married there and reception else where , please help xxxx
CommentAuthorStevie_Dee
Kisywisy is it the big red double decker with the exclusive wedding bus co? We had them I have to say I think that was my favourite part of the day (after the vows). People cheer and clap you, and cars honk their horns for you as they see you go past. It made it very special. We had music playing pretty loud and all our guests were dancing and waving at everyone. It was so good. The owners were also very good as we paid for a glass of champagne each at 3euros per guest but the owners kept refilling glassing and some guests had 5 glasses of champagne at no extra cost.
Gemma - if you are not 100% on a certain part of your day you still have time to change it, just check it doesn't affect deposits or anything else if you have already paid any money.
Sorry I've not been around ladies, Steve's data recovery business is really picking up speed, so much so that I'm finding it hard to get my job done over answering calls, making appointments and clearing down jobs for him.

Steveie-Dee, was the double decker bus you used only for that area or does it cover all of cyprus....
I am having my reception else where now as im just not happy, i no its going to cost me more but its what i wanted now xx
CommentAuthorStevie_Dee
The company I used are solely for Paphos. I know this as a few of our guests were in hotels just outside of Paphos and had to make their own way to our villa as the bus was not able to pick them up, something to do with boundaries.
We changed a few things that we were not totally happy with quite late on, but we are glad we did. Research as much as you can before handing deposits over.

Welcome to the cyprus thread Leanne. One bit of advice I will give you (im sure many others will say the same) is dont book your wedding through the travel agents, thats where it becomes expensive.
I booked my holiday with thomsons & then booked my wedding through a wedding planner based in cyprus. I had a very cheap but perfect wedding xx

Hello ladies!
First off congrats to all you guys who have already got married and a massive thank you for all the info in this thread!
Myself and my gorgeous fiance Rob are getting married in Cyprus on 2 July 2013 on the pier at the Elias Beach Hotel in Limassol, the reception will follow at their own taverna which overlooks the sea, then we will be honeymooning in the hotel next door, The Grand Resort.
My family live in Cyprus so we're planning to stay with them for a week, then have the wedding and honeymoon for the second week. It seems like most people head to Paphos or Nissi for weddings but as my folks live in Moni just outside of Limassol I wanted to get married as close to home as possible.
At the moment I am looking at using Ionian weddings for my planner and will book flights and honeymoon separate. We're hoping to have about 15 people in total.
My planner has been very helpful so far but any advice you ladies could offer would be brilliant, in particular photographer recommendations (the one the planner has only does 50 photos), vintage car transport from our family home etc etc.
Also when did you all invite your guests? I'm conscious that we are going to be asking people to shell out a bit and want them to have the opportunity to budget but don't want to seem too keen and eager!
Any advice on budget wedding rings (£100 each or less) and good ideas for BM and best man pressies. Those that got their dresses on the bay of e were you able to specify certain things? I'm very tall (over 6 foot) so would most likely need a custom dress. What did your grooms wear, I'm currently thinking brown trousers and a white shirt for Rob nothing too formal but still smart, I don't want him sweating and being uncomfortable all day.
So it seems I've actually asked for advice on pretty much everything! What is the name of the Facebook group so I can join you guys there as well, I agree it's much easier to use on the phone, UKBride need to bring out a forum app!

Hello TeganandRob , Samantha40
TeganandRob- I ordered most of my items on the bay of e or online come to the finish of it all....
Samanha: I booked my holiday with TC, then booked direct with the hotel to marry there, not i decided i wanted to have my reception else where which i have now booked..... To be honest my wedding isnt going to be much cheaper then the UK but it could of been if i had wanted it to be. Any questions any of you have please feel free to add me and i will help you mas much as i can.
Look forward to hearing from you xxx

Hi thanks for the advice Ha_x3 i've been using the facebook alot since we started planning, We are thinking of booking our hotel/holiday though TC and then we've been thinking about booking the wedding ourselves? do you think i'm crazy for thinking about doing this? we've not booked anything yet just thought i'd ask haha. its just we're trying to keep cost as low as possilble. We are thinking of getting married at St. Elias Gardens in protaras and then going to a taverna in town a few people have suggested romeos and i'm waiting for emails back from paralimni town hall and romeos at the mo... did anyone else either get married at st. elias gardens or do everything themselves without a planner or tour operator? x
CommentAuthorTeganandRob
Hello everyone!
Thanks for the advice about the bay Gemma, I have been starting to scour a few items and am currently bidding on a pair of white flip flops which I might get for 99p! Fingers crossed!
Today's exciting news is that I have paid the deposit for the wedding venue and have confirmed our date of 2 July 2013!!! Woo hoo!
We have decided to have our honeymoon at the same hotel as we get quite a discount off our wedding package if we do this, plus it looks like our best man and MOH will be staying there as well so that would be great fun.
I've started to fill in my wedding planner which my Mum gave me when we first got engaged and started stuffing it with things clipped from magazines and pictures from the internet. I think by this time next year Rob will be fed up with me because I just get so excited about it!
xxx
CommentAuthorTeganandRob
Well ladies more exciting news! I have booked and paid the deposit for our honeymoon and I've ordered the invites! Just need to finalise the guest list now so I can send them out. We're limited to 20 people including me and Rob so it's going to be quite tight. The sad news is that Rob's son might not be able to attend. As the wedding is in term time and he already has a term time holiday booked we're not sure if he will get the time off. His mum has left a message with the headmaster though to discuss it so fingers (toes, everything!) crossed he will be able to come.
I'm off to a vintage wedding fayre in Exeter on Sunday with one of my friends and my MIL2B (she's my honorary mum as mine lives overseas) so I'm really looking forward to a girly day out and getting into the wedding groove!
If there are any other Cyprus brides please come back to this thread and get excited with me!

We're staying in Moni at my parents house for the first week before the wedding then we're getting married at the Elias Beach in Limassol and we'll stay there for a week after. I looked at loads of hotels and places in Paphos but when it came down to it I wanted to get married near our family home. My dad was in the RAF and has now lived in Saudi Arabia for the last 25 years so the house in Moni is really as close as we've ever come to having a proper family home so I wanted to be able to get ready there in the morning with my mum and nanny and then travel through the village in a nice car!
How's married life treating you?

Hello all. I am new to the site, and this is my first post! I have no idea how to use this site but managed to find the Cyprus thread. My h2b and I got engaged this year - I asked him on Feb 29th - and we have decided to get married abroad (looking at May 2014) is it will be so much cheaper - I've done it before so had the church and big dress, but not the honeymoon - that's the important thing for me this time so what better way than to get married first! We are also looking at Pathos - I have been in email touch with a wedding planner abroad who has been really helpful with giving me estimates of prices for my budget planning -and are probably going to get married at the Ethnological museum in Pathos before having a meal/reception in a local taverna. We will book a two week holiday separately. We are hoping to do it on the cheap - I am making my own Save the Date cards, and invites, plus bouquet and buttonholes. I'm at the beginning of my wedding planning journey so really interesting reading other people's comments.

Hi Ann welcome to the thread! Congrats on your engagement and for doing the asking, I think I'd be too scared! Paphos is lovely and I think a lot of Cyprus brides end up choosing the area. Can't wait to hear more about your plans.

I'm sure the time will fly by Gemma. Well done for being so organised!
Well this evening has been spent trying to draft an information sheet to go with our invites, stuff like hotels, where to get flights, where were staying, the fact it's gonna be very hot and a chilled out wedding so no need for suits etc. I've typed it up in word and then I googled images of antique maps of Cyprus, found a really nice one and have printed it out double sided with the map one side and the information the other, it looks pretty cool if I don't say so myself and as we already have paper and printer ink it's gonna cost £0!! Woop woop!
