See the look of horror on my face!! I can't believe that :S

All my wedding plans are on my computer, have hard copies AND burnt to disc, might be an idea for you to do the same if your dog loves eating paper.

Big hugs, hope your post was mainly junk mail xxx

    It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

    Get the dog a cage.

    Seriously.

We have a 16 month old English Bull Terrier who used to eat EVERYTHING that wasnt nailed down.

She had a cage and she went in it when we went out.

She's got bigger and we have a large cage for her - she still goes in it when we go out and she goes in it herself when she wants a kip - its her own space.

You need to seriously consider cageing your dog if he's so destructive. Get him a lovely soft blanket (no fluffy bed cos he'll tear it to shreds) and a couple of toys and he'll be fine. He may whine for a couple of days but he'll get used to it.

He is still only a baby and probably doen naughty things when your out cos he gets bored, I have a 2 year old labrador retriever who when youger managed to eat right through to the dry wall on our extension and chewed everyything in sight, he is only confined to the kitchen if we go out and not left to roam the house, but we got him a kong which is a large rubber thing that you put treats inside and he will keep going at it for hours trying to get them out which stops him getting bored, I know he has already done bad but might stop him in the future x

Dogs need confining when their owners are out - they need their own space

Giving them the run of the house gives them a red light to do what they like and they think they are master of all.

They need to learn that they are low down in the chain of command, and you need to teach him this while he's still a pup or else he will think he is Alpha and you'll never get him to do as he is told.

Ours has just taken herself off to her bed in her cage - she loves her space!

    I agree with goff.
My 4 year old black lab used to be put in a cage at night time and when we went out when she was a puppy. We started this as soon as we got her and shes never eaten anything (fingers crossed she wont start now). Now shes nearly five and we leave her in the kitchen instead as we moved and not enough room for a cage but it works just as well. When shes out of the cage tho shes still not aloud the run of the house and isnt aloud upstairs...............She sits at the bottom when we go up, looking sad :-(

he is a very bright dog lol he was shut in the kitchen behind a large gate, he has worked out how to open it, thats how he got into the front room.

I always leave the back door open for my dogs as my garden is well secured,so they can come in and out when it is nice out, he knows his place in the family and he is daft as a brush and as soft as putty he has never eaten walls, chairs or table legs lol i could not cage him as i dont have the space and he has bad hips and needs to move around alot think he just found his freedom and went with it . bad lade xxx gunna put a bolt on the door now so it wont happen again lol x (today i can smile about it)

Used to have that problem with my little lad (fell terrier) chewing things, he still chews but only what we give him normally.

My other one who's 3 years older (lab collie x) has figured out how to open the dog box so we've got extra precautions in place like ensuring all the doors are shut so we won't come home to chewed teddies (usually just full of dog slavver) and beds or sofa rumpled and covered in dog hair.

I don't leave water down though as the elder one has incontinency problems and it's not pleasant to come home to so what usually happens is they get a chance to have a drink before we go out and then refuse to let them in unless they go to the bathroom first or if I know they'll go I'll put them in the box/bed before I go out or lock them in the back yard until I get back.

They get a good walk in the evening (once its cooled down) and play ball games until they're knackered. Overall they're spoilt but they deserve it :)
