Sorry I'm new to the site and not sure if I've made the post in the right place!
My partner proposed to me over a year ago and we want to get married asap. I am still a student, although he works full time and are looking for a budget wedding venue in Nottingham. I was hoping we could get married at the Nottingham council house and then have a big party/ wedding reception elsewhere. The problem is I can't find any party venues that would allow us to just hire the venue on its own, so we could bring our own catering and alcohol. We can't really afford the prices places are asking for alcohol packages and want to arrange our own caterer as we are vegan! I was also really hoping to be able to get married outdoors so that we could all have a proper party in the evening, but I can't find a way to hire outdoor land for a couple of days that would possible allow us to camp over - or have a small festival type of party. We have friends that are DJ's, caterers, photographers, film makers, and even dress makers so we are all set except for a venue that will allow us to do 100% our own thing once we paid for the land/ venue! Is this even possible? Any help or ideas would be massively appreciated since I am really at a loss here! Many thanks x

We are using the Rowing Club in Nottingham as our venue. A Saturday cost £280, corkage is £3.50 a bottle and you can cater there yourself.
I fell in love with the venue, My photos aren't brilliant but I have them on my wall (evening venue). The outside doesn't look brilliant, but when you walk into the indoor caves you can't help but fall in love with it.
Let me know if you want any more help/contacts.
I also just wanted a place for a marquee - I had farmers quote me £450 to use their field and Marquee quotes from £2,500 - I thought this was the cheap option! Apparently not. I desperately wanted to be outside - I wanted a picnic wedding! But I have settled with the rowing club and wouldn't change it if another venue came up!

A festival style receptions sounds fab :-) Hope you find what you are looking for........have you tried contacting local campsites...a few nice ones near Sherwood Forest that might do you an exclusive use deal? I am a Nottingham girl but getting married in Staffordshire.
I'm actually getting married in Lincolnshire, but partying in Nottingham.
Where abouts are you from Sarah? x

I am, although it has just panicked me as I haven't done much!
My dress doesn't fit (bought in sample sale), need to make brooch bouquet, invitations, flowergirl dresses, get rings, get his suit etc, make my cake, favours, table decorations, place names... pretty much everything in fact!
Oh and I am studying every evening and majority of weekends from March until Mid June! Arghhhhhhhh!! haha
I will have to employ my future husband to get crafty!!
You don't want to know about Mansfield!! haha. Newark is nice enough, my mum & dad still live in Farndon which is your end of Newark too. And I think my old headteacher lives in Bingham!

please note there are restrictions on where you can get married out side ... it has to be in a permanent fixture and the place has to hold a licence for outdoor weddings ..... look on your councils website they should be able to give you a list of places
One place in the Nottm area is West Retford hotel as they have a Pagoda - although I don't think it is that cheap....
They have a wedding fayre this month too... I may have to have a gander then!

Hi Katherine, can I ask where you got your catering at papplewick village hall ? And how much it was I'm also looking for a cheap reception venue in Nottingham and I'm interested in papplewick hall but want to see how much catering will be.
Thanks Kirstie x

We looked at loads, ideally we wanted a sit down meal but can't afford it so we're going for a carvery. I don't think I can out the name of the caterer on here put if you unrestrict your profile I'll put the name on your wall x
