I thought i'd start a thread telling you all about my wedding I am doing on a very tight budget. So far i've saved on everything. 2x wedding cars = FREE!! (or more so 2 crates of beer!) My, MOH and bridesamaid's hair = £30 Favors = £27.84 Disco = £175 Flowers and table centre pieces = £129 Bouncy castle = £50 Ice cream van = £50 Caricaturist = £160 Photos = £100
So far so good im thinking. My aim for this week is to find my dress under £150, so if anyone has any ideas i'd be grateful.... Wish me luck xx

Wow you have been busy. How did you get your photos that cheep? xx
CommentAuthorZeeMee83
I went to the local photography college in my area and asked the more professional students if they would do it. We look at all their work first and we could choose whos way of photography we liked the most. All they want is the price and to use some of the photos taken on the day in their portfolios. Bargain! Some of them had some really funky work whilst others were really weird. Our's does a bit of everything so we're having some romantic ones and some funny ones too. I can't wait xx

Well done on the bargains so far.

Hello Ladies,
I'd love some thrifty tips please! we've had to move our wedding from june to Jan because I'm expecting so we're really going to have to scrimp now! So far i've nearly paid for my dress but I'm panicking about the ceremony etc. Has anyone ever got married or is getting married just at the registry office? We were thinking of doing that to save some money then have my mums best friend who's a vicar run through our personalised vows with us in front of our friends and family. I'm worried it sounds a bit daft. Any thoughts? xx
CommentAuthorTori
If your mums friend is a vicar can't he/she just marry you anyway that way you won't need the added expense of a registry office wedding?
CommentAuthorHannahW21
No cos it would have to be on 'consecrated ground' i.e a church and his church is in bristol and we're in bournemouth. I wish it was that easy!
CommentAuthorTori
Oh that's rubbish!!!!! thought it was different for vicars (I am catholic). I am sure H2B brother was married by the vicar at teh hotel but that was in Scotland...
CommentAuthormadison_uk
try ebay for wedding dresses and pre loved wedding dress shops, charity shops, i found that it was cheaper to marry in a church than it was to do it in the local registry off ice and allot nicer depends on where you are though prices fluctuate like crazy
CommentAuthormadison_uk
you could also hire your wedding dress?
CommentAuthorfloatee
Wooohooo.. Go you! Also, woots, we are not the only ones who are having bouncy castles and ice-cream vans rofl, I was starting to think we were a bit odd for wanting them.
As for your wedding dress, as the others have said there is ebay, preloved, charity shops or what about asking friend if they are thinking of selling their wedding dresses, or family members (you may be surprised). I know someone who coveted a friends wedding dress and on the spur of the moment asked if they could use it, her mate jumped at the chance of having their dress be brought out the box and given a new lease of life. They said it was a wonderful and made them feel as though they were part of the wedding :o).

Where are you getting married? I want a bouncy castle and ice cream van but can't get them that cheap! x

What are your flowers and centre pieces going to be like? That's the bit I'm really struggling to fit to budget without looking budget!
CommentAuthorZeeMee83
MairiN30 it's a friend of mine who owns his own van so he told us just to pay him for the mix, cones, flakes and sauce. I dread to think how much it would have been if he wasn't my mate. If you in my area then I can see what I can do if you wanted him to do yours?
Gracelet88 im having foam flowers then on my top table im having 2 smallish topia trees, when i get them i'll upload a pic. The rest of my tables im making paper mache footballs on grass with foam flowers around it, well im hoping to anyway, am hoping to start them sometime next week xx

Ok this is kinda wedding related so i thought i'd tell you all. Im trying to lose some weight and tone up for my big day. Having already played Zumba on my Wii and found it a tad boring, i finally gave into my MOH's pleads to join her at our local Zumba class and what can i say.... Why the hell didn't i go before? It's fab and I feel great...... Here's to many more weeks xx

Aarrggghhh back to the drawing board I think x
CommentAuthorKathleenJ
I got my dress from a retailer in Glasgow and they make their own dresses. They are online and they do accept installment payments too - with no credit agreement. Mine cost £320 with p&p and it is perfect.
CommentAuthorAmyK
Love the bargain hunting Hun! I've been hunting out bargains in local charity shops - got all my vases, pearl beads and silver serving platters from our local ones... Plus it's helping good causes! But for your dress look out for samples on the bay of e, or second hand websites where items have been loved before (although many of the dresses on the second website are unworn, and still a total bargain!) Good luck hunting! X

Ahh cheers ladies.
Well a friend, of a friend, of my maid of honor is getting married in March and she couldn't decide which dress she wanted so her 'more money than sense' Daddy brought her 3 dresses.
Anyway word of mouth got round at how late I was leaving it and how skint I am....... then I got a phone call from my MOH telling me she was taking me out for the day. She took me to Donna's house and told me to pick one of the dresses. (Donna had finally picked the 1 she wanted) They were both stunning but I couldn't believe that one of them was the exact one I was looking at on the bay of E!! It fitted so I told her i'd have it, without even asking a price... BAD ME!!
Anyway when I did ask, she told me its fine and that Hayley had brought it for me for £25, and H backed her up.
All I can say is MY MOH IS ONE IN A MILLION AND TRULY THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xx
