Hi, getting wed next June and my Mum has suggested she'd like to take my Grandma somewhere to have an outfit made for the wedding, and I think she might get one herself too - however, they're both 5 ft and under, and size 18-20 so won't look right in the usual mother of the bride suits etc I've seen in bridal shops - does anyone know where they could start to get some ideas for something to be made? Thanks

There is a place called the sewing lounge that is a dressmakers/alterations place for those who wish or require to have something special.... Only problem is that it is in Haydock, just not far from junction 23 of the M6/ haydock island on the A580 (east lancs)

Have you tried big department shops like Debenhams and Houseof Fraser - i have made my mum a personal shopper appointment. You tell them beforehand the wedding colours, size, hair colour, etc and the shopper gets all the outfits they think together and a nice girlie day or trying on outfits xx

If they can travel to Knutsford there is a shop that specializes in clothing for size 16 and over, with most of their customers coming to them for the first time as they are looking for MOB outfits. They are next door but one to a bridal shop that also make custom outfits and a customer of mine if having her MOB outfit made there.

Hmmm any idea of prices maybe? I offered to go with my mum to town at the weekend to say John Lewis but she says she can't justify getting an outfit from there as it'll be too expensive! Argh!
