has anyone had the M&S diy wedding cake? or planning on having it? did you rate it? would you recommend it?
ive been quoted £500 for a simple 4 tier cake and i think its outrageous !! and i cant justify spending that much on a cake !

I know some people who have had some and always lovely as they personalised it themselves and of course tasted good .
Tbh my budget for my wedding cake is between £400-£600 if it less brill but I got my heart set on a place where I have always had birthday and celebration cakes from but the place is a bit more expensive than other places :)

We paid £400 for our 4 tier cake, it was huge and worth every penny but if you like the look of the m&5 one it's very good value x

I've just had a look through the brochure for M&S wedding cakes, came with the wedding mag you and your wedding this month, I see lots of ppl that have them as they look great for the price ... But you may be restricted filling wise, as I think the basic ones are fruit only x

I looked into them but didn't go with them as they didn't have the range of flavours we wanted or the specific design, and weren't quite cheap enough, if that makes sense.
We're paying £420 for our but I think that's pretty good as it's for a 4 tier cake to serve 100 with different flavours for each tier, as well as a cutting cake to serve 40, plus 12 gluten-free cupcakes, as well as delivery and set-up; if we'd gone with M&5 we'd have been looking at close to £300 and then we'd have had to decorate the cake. take it to the venue and set it up, etc.
That all said, if you can make a good saving then yes, it's probably worth it, and I've had plenty of cakes from there (birthday cakes etc) and find them really good quality; they don't taste store-bought at all.

I was also going to consider having our cake by M&S my friend had one at her wedding and she as very impressed. I don't see the point in spending a fortune on cake if you don't have to

I think we're going with M&S too and decorating it ourselves (probably with a sample of the foam flowers Im having for my bouquet) Either that, or we thought about a cheesecake wedding cake!!?? We both adore cheesecake and thought it would be a great idea just not quite sure if it would work.

Personally I don't have any budget for a cake and think that they're all quite expensive. I did look at the one your talking about and neither me or h2b likes fruit cake or icing. If it's what you want, then go for it.
We've decided to rope in family and friends who are good bakers to make us a selection of cakes for a desert table. This suits us and our fussy families xx

My daughter having m and s cake can't go wrong with their cakes? You don't get lots of decoration depends what you after. Can always add fruit or flowers. Only small concern was height of cake smaller than some specially made ones , having on pedestal cake stand to make it taller
