We have a bit of a dilema, H2B is getting his kilt made for him. He is getting Scotland Forever Tartan which is a purpleish tartan. BUT his two best men have kilts of their own already, one in red and one in blue. And they probably have the dickie bow ties and white shirts. Well H2B will be wearing a black shirt and purple rouched tie with his and a high waistcoat.
i personally think that all 3 should look the same, but H2B says they dont and it will save us money hiring out two kilts for his best men. Even if we do hire we cant get Scotland Forever, we can get Pride which is similar.
Am i being really picky? i just think the photos will look nicer with them all in matching tartans and purple ties. It would save us £140 letting the best men hire their own kilts.

i would like them to look the same but thats just me! i always have to have everything matching otherwise it bugs me, i think you should maybe go to a shop that has them all and try all three colours next to each other, see what you think then, my friend is having mixed kilts as her dad,bro and other family and friends already have thier own, but her h2b (my bro) is english and doesnt have one so has to hire one but he wants it in the blue colour!

Are they clan kilts? If so I'd say let them wear them- its not too long since the thought of wearing another would be seriosly frowned upon.

only one is a clan kilt i think, the other is a football tartan! None of them would mind wearing Scotland Forever. My H2B was best man at one of their weddings and they all hired out Pride of Scotland to look the same, even tho the groom already had his football tartan kilt.
This is the one think that i have left totally up to H2B, but here is me getting all worried about it! I just really want them to match!! but then I think, how often am I gonna look at photos of him with his best men? probably not very often. It will be the photos of me and H2B I am looking at so is £140 worth it just for a few photos? argh I dunno.

follow your heart hunni you don't want to look back on your photo's and say '' l wish they wore the same kilts,if the boy's don't mind wearing the same kilts... but if you try all three together you might just love them.. £140 is a whole lot of money to save, my bride's maids had 3 different dress on!!! good luck xx
Its entirely up to you linzi what you want to have, I know we had Paul and his best man in matching kilts which they decided to do but the ushers were in different ones, as my brother Phil owned his own kilt and my brother James hired what he liked and we couldnt hire Pauls family tartan as it isnt popular. I have been to weddings where they all match right through, even some of the male guests too which IMO was over the top but I have also been to a wedding where they didnt match at all and it was actually pretty fab to see all the different tartans on display. xx

thanks girls. I think we will wait and see how we are doing for money when its time to book the kilts. If we can afford an extra £140 then I think i will ask for them all to match (we would prob need to buy the black shirts tho as you cant hire them). if we cant afford it, then we wont do it.
fingers crossed we can afford it tho, I would like the 3 of them to match. And they will also match the bridesmaids who will also be wearing purple so the photos would look good. Cant imagine a red tartan kilt next to a purple dress! blurgh.

I'd have to say let them wear their clan tartan, but then the football one threw me? How can you let H2b wear 1, friend wear a clan and then football one (I personally would not accomodate)??
Na stick to your guns and get them all in the same. (the clashing wouldn't bother me if it were clan colours )
Black shirts from primarni. Have a word with the men and tell them to either cough up for some/all for their attire or tell em to wear a nice suit and buy them a tie in the right colour.
I'm now a married woman
I have a gorgeous husband
Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

ours are all different as we respected their choices but id have prefered them matching.... i guess it doesnt really matter, all the men at ours are wearing kilts except the dads so it will be a bit odge podge on the pics anyway!
CommentAuthorclaireyb101
We are having different ones, but they will all be in their own clan tartans. if you really want them to match hire out the pride.
CommentAuthorbagpuss
I know what you're saying but i'd prefer them to match. we're having grey spirit and all wedding party men are in it. it's much cheaper for us to get them from scotland in a place in kilmarnock by his mums than down here. but all his uncles etc will have their own. for them i don;t think it matters but for the wedding party i think it does. it's only 70 quid an outfit from this place but you could get pride of scotland for them which is purple so they'd look the same but your man would still look slightly different and stand out as special.

I believe if its clan tartans then let them wear it. My H2B is getting his Clan tartan kilt made and all other male attendants will be in the same colours, we're thinking dark grey (almost black) kilts xx
CommentAuthorlinzi
that would be nice, having all the attendants in grey and your man in his clan tartan. But I really dont want them all in totally different tartans. I want them to look like they are groomsmen and not just guests.
think my mind is made up to be honest, just gotta convince H2B now. Oopsie, this was "his job" too, and now I am about to take over! need to try to make him think it was his idea..............
