We both live in liverpool/blackpool, We're getting married at Gretna Green Scotland, so it may be different, know they have different marriage laws, My first marriage was 25 years ago, we got married in church and had to put our bands up 3 weeks before our wedding I think. We were told by Gretna Registry Office we had to send off an M10 form each, these are for us to give our marriage notice to the Registry Office which has to be done not earlier than 3 months and not later than 3 weeks before the wedding. These forms contain the information that will be entered on to our Marriage Certificate. We also had to send off our birth certificates and our Divorce Final Decrees. I suppose because we don't live in Scotland that is why we had to down load them from the registry office site and post them to them with appropriate paperwork.

Just to add about the M10 forms - these are used in Scotland as opposed to England, and unlike here in England, you can't give notice more than 3 months before the wedding. We got married at Gretna Green as well - but decided to take the forms up there and make a weekend of it, so we could meet with the wedding co-ordinator and finalise the plans/menu choices etc as well.

Thanks glitterfairy, goodluck georgie I'm sure you'll do it. Mym72, I did think it was different in Scotland than in England but wasn't too sure, we went up to Gretna in Nov for the day and booked our wedding then, everyone is so friendly and helpful. We are going again in on 27th Sept to make sure all our arrangements are right and sorted out properly, so looking forward to that x

I know what you mean Donda - we couldn't get over how friendly everyone was. When we visited our venue, we were even talked through the ceremony and shown where we'd stand and what we'd do etc. The minister who married us even finished up being a friend on FB now as well lol.
