    Hi,

I'm trying to plan a wedding on a budget of £3000.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a cheap place for a wedding reception in Aberdeen?

And if anyone has any tips or contacts that can help lower the price of a wedding?

    Thanks

    Sarah.

DIY as much as you can, and just haggle with everyone when ever you can.
We are doing almost everything DIY and using car boot sales and charity shops and so forth.
Sorry I can't help on the Aberdeen reception, I'm not from there.

Thanks for the advice guys :-).

I haven't booked anywhere yet, my guest list is just over 30 :-).

I was thinking the Double Tree Hilton (£300 to get married there, plus £25 per a head for a dinner and £450 for a Registrar).

But I think it'd be cheaper getting married in the Town Hall, after hearing Ziggyboos advice?

Argh, I'm so confused what to do still though.

Any tips from yourself? Found any good venues etc?

    x

Hi there just dropped by to say hi im not in aberdeen but not far from you im in dundee me and h2b have tried to do it really cheap but our budget is £8500 however remember you are saying the Double Tree Hilton is £300 to get married there, plus £25 per a head for a dinner and £450 for a Registrar, but there are other things like flowers, dresses, photos thats whats really bumps up the price (thats what we have found anyway) we looked at a videographer in aberdeen his work seemed great but when i asked the price i nearly fell off my seat when he told me it was £3000 for a dvd!!!!! Anyway enough rambling lol im just saying if you need any help i will as i know a few people i looked at in aberdeen.

We are getting married in the town hall at the latest time they have 3.20pm and on a weekday cos that is cheaper than weekends too. We picked the latest time so we can bypass the sitdown meal (too expensive) we are having a buffet for about 50 guests. We have gone for a local pub (nice family place) if we have our reception in the public bar its free (no fee to hire the room) just pay for the food. Getting married on a Monday has saved money on the wedding car too (£150 off so £300 instead of £450 for saturday) I hope this helps a bit, we started with a budget of £3000.00 and its ended up about £3500.00 but we haven't been extravigant things just mount up x

Double def has one of the best deals! Also look at Palm Court as no minimum numbers but double tree has a minimum of 30
I would prob stick to the same place as you can get a retired minister for around £100 instead of the £450 registrar - you could also have a humanist for £400. Would save on cars as you would need one to get to double tree unless you were at the carmalite or rox or douglas hotel!Carmalite also have a wedding package you could look at?xx

not in Aberdeen but were getting married in a church which turns out to be allot less than getting married at are reception venue, and getting married late as possible at 2pm so we don't have to have a sit down meal were having a buffet, ive got 85 quests and so far with flowers and extras is coming in at £4000.
haggle were possible, diy as much as you can, and midweek is so much cheaper and you tend to get better deals also out of wedding season is cheaper too. which down here is april-sept. out of season october-march will save you loads just by doing that.

Okay. I've done some research and so here's the break down of my plan so far (I've probably missed something lol) :

Hilton Double Tree (updated) - £30 per a head for gold Menu (£6 per a child's 3 course meal)
Glass of sparkling wine at Reception, 2 x Glasses of wine during meal - All included in price.
Chair Covers and sashes - All included in Hilton Double Tree's price.
To hire room to be married in - £300
    Registrar - £450
    Car - £320
Wedding dress (Nora) ordered online from the USA - £300
Bridesmaids dresses (eBay) - £30 each
Honey Moon Suite - Free (Hilton Double Tree)
Photographer for full day - £1300 (but my Dad's paying for this).
Evening venue else where in Aberdeen - free, all we need to do is pay £70 for a bouncer
DJ - Paid by my Maid of Honor
Evening buffet - Family are bringing dishes for free.
Table Center pieces (eBay) - £90
    Wedding Cake - £150
Kilt Hire (rough est.) - £100
    Flower bouquets (eBay) - £50
Invites - Hand made by future Mother In Law for free.

Phew, Hope this helps people who haven't researched the Hilton Double Tree etc. (I asked lots of questions today) lol.xx

Thanks for all the advice, it's really helping me make my decisions.

    xx

You can have your evening venue at Double tree too - dont think it costs extra?and you wouldnt need a bouncy then?or is it to save on th evening buffet?
What car is that?If your not fussy you can get cheaper
    Kilt hire around £70 each!

There is a local fb group where there are 2 doubletree brides - let me know if you want the link x

It's not free, it's £15 per a person based a min of 60 guests (I have less than 60 guests also). Also I want to save on the evening buffet :-).

I think It was this car site: fair view weddings?

The car's aren't fancy, if I manage to save up more I will be getting better cars ^ - ^.

I'd love the link thanks :-).xx

Also here's a link for a package of "Photographer, flowers and cars" for as little as £999 :-O......I am going with a different choice though. As I prefer the Photographer that I have already chosen.

"Baby Bentley or Range Rover for whole of afternoon, catering for pick up, Church, Gardens and then on to Wedding Reception £350.00"

    I think that's a good deal? Right? lol.xx

May go to these guys myself for cars.xx
