Well done kempy! liking those. What sweets are on the red and blue one?
CommentAuthorXbox widow
Basically you set your stick in some plaster of paris in a plant pot, we used an ordinary brown plastic plant pot and sprayed it silver. Then you drill a hole through your polysterene ball and push it on to your stick. We covered the pot with some organza and tied ribbon round to decorate it then you can stick your choice of sweets on with either cocktail sticks or if using wrapped sweets a glue gun or if unwrapped sugar and water paste. You can get most of the bits and bobs from hobbycraft or a full kit off the bay. These cost a fraction to make than what some people are selling the completed item for especially if you get your sweets in bulk from somewhere like costco.

Wow these look amazing! I love them! I think I may have to make some marshmallow ones to go on my sweetie buffet table!
22-09-2012 I marry my best friend.
CommentAuthortillyturtle
on average how much did it all cost to make one?
CommentAuthorXbox widow
If you buy a diy kit off the bay it costs £9.99 for a double tree and then it depends on your choice of sweets I bought mine at costco to make it a little cheaper cos I wanted forrerro Rocher.
CommentAuthortillyturtle
how many ferroro did you need.... just want to get cost price you see so i can convince h2b we need it lol
CommentAuthorXbox widow
It took 6 boxes of 12's but it would depend on the size of the polystyrene ball you use and if you did a double or single tree.
CommentAuthortillyturtle
i think i would want to to do 2 single trees that are quite tall
CommentAuthorNicolaM92
wow they are great :o)
CommentAuthorMorgsysGirl(kempy)
It cost no more than £10 each and that was by getting the bits and pieces at random shops and not at a wholesalers. The blue and red ones arent for my wedding was just a practice and is just a jubilee thing its just lollipops from the land of pound. We used a sphere shape oasis on top, covered in tinfoil so you cant see the oasis in the gaps.

Thank you for the step by step!! Can you eat the sweets off them?
CommentAuthormrs clarke to be
they look fab hun and they are alot better then i coud do xx
CommentAuthorMorgsysGirl(kempy)
Yes hun, the lollipops are in by the sticks and the reason the tinfoil is on the marshmellow one is so its not against the oasis and are therefore safer to eat. Ive secured them in with cocktail sticks but might try a different tact for the next one of them i make. (its already been eaten by all the kids that live round me lol)

I've been to a wedding place that showed me how to actually put them together, she covered the polystyrene balls with icing and stuck the marshmallows on to it whilst nearly dry. Wrap the tree straight away to keep the sweets from going hard and dust free. You can also glue some sweets with that edible cake glue. And difficult ones you put on a thin stick and push in the balls.
