I am planning to have a cathedral length veil with a blusher which I am going to have down over my face as I walk down the aisle. Just wondering if anyone else had/is having this and if so when will you be lifting it back and who will be doing it for you?

I'm having a full Catholic mass so would feel a bit silly having it over my face until the kiss the bride part so want to have it lifted back when I get to the end of the aisle but I have read conflicting opinions about who should lift it, some may maid of honour, some say groom and others father of the bride! Does anybody have any info?

    Xxx

I have asked this before. I'm going to wear my veil over my face to walk down the aisle then having my dad lift it for me.

The tradition is the father showing off the bride to the groom I think in western culture but it's all sorts else where for example in some asian cultures, the veil isnt lifted til the couple are married.

the veil should be lifted only after you are pronounced man and wife

There are two schools on the subject. Depending on what you feel most comfortable with, your veil is either lifted when you meet the groom at the altar, or it is lifted for the kiss after the ceremony. However, if you keep the veil down during the entire ceremony, it might look strange to the guests, because it is not very common. Either way you won't break a rule, so it's up to you to decide!
In early times, the bride wore the veil to hide or protect herself from evil spirits or to conceal her face from the groom because of an arranged marriage.

I was married C of E, and I wore my blusher down the aisle then during the first hymn, I stooped down a touch and my bridesmaid lifted my veil front to back, and tidied it up before sitting down - the vicar said from experience the groom is all fingers and thumbs so it's less clumsy to have your BM do it :-)

Im having a fingertip veil with blusher and having it over my face. This may sound a bit odd but my brother is giving me away as things arnt that great between me and my dad, but he is still my dad so im having both of them walk me down the isle and my dad is lifting my veil so he feels a bit important but my brother will be the one who actually gives me away. dont know if this sounds a bit wierd but just want everyone to be involved x

I would have the MOH lift it for you at whatever point of the ceremony it needs to be lifted.

I think these kinds of traditions are all down to majority vote in this day and age. No one really knows what's 'right' we all just copy what other people have done.

That said, pick who you think will be best/who you want to do it. :)

I do like the idea of my dad doing it but he is very heavy handed (as is the groom typical men ha!!) so I think I may be better to get MOH to do it then at least I know it will get fixed properly and not accidentally yanked off!!x

Blusher is the layer that goes over your face.
