Maybe thats because you're more interested in what is important.....ie actually getting married. I think its a good thing, I wish I could be as relaxed about it haha

4th April 2014 - I get married to my soul mate

I'm not bothered either. We're lucky though and our venue is very luxurious, so doesn't really need much in the way of decoration; just a few flowers, and obv I'll need a bouquet, as will the BMs.

But, I don't want it to look like a mish-mash of things either. What I've done is get my BMs to pick their own dresses, inc the colour, as I want them to be comfortable. Once they've decided on a colour, I'll then think about what colour flowers would go (I think they're thinking navy blue, so, I might go with pink). I'll then approach a florist with the colour I want, the budget I have, and get them to come up with a couple of different options that I can choose from. Stationary I'm going to keep simple, probably just ivory, and the cake again will be very simple: plain ivory icing, then probably a large ribbon and brooch (in the same colour as either the flowers or BM dresses) for decoration.

If you aren't fussed, maybe start similarly to I have, by getting your BMs to decide on a colour for their dresses, then getting everything to tie in, and don't be afraid of approaching people like florists and bakers with a budget and seeing what they come up with. Another good starting point is your venue; eg a barn would suit a rustic theme, a venue like mine with a lot going on is probably best kept simple, if you have red carpets in your venue pink flowers and sashes will clash, etc.

I'm not bothered either, so it looks like there are plenty of us. I too just want everyone to have a good time & normally decorations just aren't a part of it

I was opposite and I was very anal about having everything in a certain way and it did look great but I played clever and paid more for people to sort all the decorations out e.g. paid the florist extra to do draping, hired someone in to dress the chairs etc so everything fell into place with no hassle from any of us or any guests on the day sorting it out. Can you not do something similar so everything is taken care of and you dont have to do anything on the day or night before? If it is not a priority though then you may aswell save the pennies and go on a few extra excursions on honeymoon which you may appreciate more?

I aren't too fussed about colours, most things will be quite neutral and when we choose the brides made dresses, I will probably incorporate the color of them in, as an accent color. Much easier than choosing a colour and trying to find items to match it! X

Princess I am so glad to hear you feel that way!! For ages it really got on my nerves that all anyone could ask me about the wedding was "what colour are you having?" And i did not have a clue!! In the end my work mate suggested to have a mix of pastels for the bridesmaids dresses and just have light pastel colours as a general theme. Was glad to decide on that but that was months ago - done nothing since!! Had an idea to make some paper pom poms for decoration but then i didn't know what i'd actually do with them so put it on the back burner! Really should make some decisions soon! x

I kind of chose cadbury purple as process of elimination and not liking anything else. Still just seems that i can't be bothered. Was looking at invitations and bm dressess today and keep just giving up!! i think whats the point of spending loads of pennies on invitations when i don't even get one! lol
Also, its just to inform people of where to go etc.
Suky, i like your idea of using the pennies for something else. I'm not grudging spending the money but just can't get excited for all the details when im not really fussed.
    xx

yes i have definatley felt this this at various points. They do come and go! Just the amount of things to organise i think. Sometimes you just have to let a few things go over your head...even if you come back to them later x

I think it happens to us all. I haven't done anything weddingy for weeks, since getting my dress. I was thinking about decorations last night and I realised that before I was engaged I never took note of table decorations or chairs or anything so why has it become such an annoying part of my wedding. I've hired two ladies to do everything but I still get niggly feelings about it going wrong. I'm hoping once Christmas is over I'll be back to planning like a woman possessed.

White/Ivory would look lovely, even if you had contrasting bm dresses in cadburys purple. Ive lost my wedding mojo, mostly because of cost and money issues but I know if I sat down and started making my invites Id get excited.
