Been looking at getting married at Gretna Green with a small group of close family and friends, just wondered if anyone else is getting married here?
Thanks :)

Im not getting married there, but its a lovey place to get married at, if i knew that my family was being ass/s then it would of been a reality Only prob I see, is unless you prefer to arrange all by phone or email, it gets a bit tricky, as I like to keep visiting my venue to arrange things and to see my co ordinator xx

When we went looking we went on a site called - wedding venues dot com, minus the gaps and the dot replaced with the actual thing
We choose an area where we wanted, and the type of venue and we had a shortlist of around 4/5 venues, we checked which could facilitate our date, and then made an appointment to view
we struck lucky on the 2nd viewing and loved the venue and booked there and then
Good luck with your search xx

My friend got married there a few weeks back. I didnt go but my mum did and she said it was amazing and beautiful. She then had a big party at home in essex for everyone that couldnt go to gretna. It was lovely as I still felt a part of her big day.
We're getting married at Gretna Green on the 6th August. We booked at the beginning of last year through the Gretna Wedding Bureau and they've been fantastic with the booking and all our requests and enquiries. We managed to book the venue, minister and photographer with them - but they had options to book transport, flowers, DVD service, piper and even witnesses with them!!
We visited Gretna in January last year, for a look round and to see if we could find somewhere for our reception (we didn't book that through the bureau). We finished up booking Solway Lodge Hotel - as it's gorgeous, the staff are so friendly and the food is lovely (and reasonable).
We also visited again in May this year and took our M10 forms into the register office etc. We visited Gretna Hall where we're getting married and the staff there are so friendly as well. I can't get over how friendly everyone around there really are lol.
It's not been to much of a pain living in Leeds and booking everything for Gretna, as no one seems to be put out or bothered if we pick up the phone and ask something or sort anything out.
We've booked our wedding car from Dumfries (a vw camper), and the rest locally here. So we're taking our cake and flowers up with us.
If you're thinking of a Gretna Green wedding I would recommend looking at the bureau's site or requesting a brochure as it does help to have someone up there who can sort everything for you. We're taking 18 guests so there's just the 20 of us altogether (across 3 hotels) - but if you decide to book I'd do it early as they get booked up quite early (we booked about 18 months in advance).

We were visiting the area first weekend of January this year on our way up to Loch Lomond. By chance there was a wedding there. Although there was quite a bit of snow everything was accessible. Would've loved to have stayed to watch a wedding but we had to go. Everything looked beautiful. I heard there was a webcam so people could log onto a site and watch from afar! - not sure if that was true or not but the family were talking about it.

I've tried googling that - but I've never managed to catch an actual wedding on there lol. I was wondering if it's actually kept up to date for recording etc lol.

My sister got married in Gretna Green 2 years ago. It was amazing and the ceremony was beautiful. We had about 20 of us with a sit down 3 course meal afterwards. Everyone had a fantastic day. There was another wedding after which had a lot more than my sister did. They had bagpipes and all sorts going on.

so, here it goes. we are now thinking about gretna green instead of a registry office. i have looked on the website and they offer packages just for the bride and groom and provide the witnessess which i think is perfect for me.(i suffer bad from anxiety and i think having my family around me is too much, i much prefer a private ceromany just me and my oh). anyway has anyone done this before. how did u get on. the package i have found is the romance package at the mill forge which is £445 obviously price dependant to 2017 it includes ceromany venue, 2 nights in the bridal suite intimate 4 course meal for bride and groom, bucks fizz on arrival, sparkling wine to celebrate, witnesses if required (something we need) and a wedding planner assistance.. now how did this work for you guys like on the day of the wedding not letting the groom see the dress & obviously help getting into the dress. transport is it something thats needed tp get to the ceromany, is the 2 nights stay near?. and obviously we want photography how did you choose your photographer.. and most importantly what did you do after in terms of the meal and everything else ? arghh im pulling my hair out
Sorry for the long post im trying to find something thats perfect for us and gretna green sounds just that, but not making any decisions without hearing other peoples opinions and storys oof how theirs went. p.s i have never been to a wedding only seen it on the tv so i have no idea thankyou xxx
